hi john,

just curious whether u have a 84.6 forceware and whether u recently upgraded ur version?. also, i have a different issue on a 6800 but the game runs fine (my forceware is 78.51).

o.k u have the latest, any chance for a possibility that this version is not in sync with ur 6600. did u try rolling back to original version and give it a shot?? apart from that u have way more higher specs than required. i have similar 256 mb, 2 gig ram. i didn't upgrade my version at all and it works fine. keith and phil can fill in more with additional details.

Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.60GHz (2 CPUs)

How can a P4 2.6ghz count as two processors? Hyperthreading becomes availible at 3.06GHz.

Can you please check your bios, and disable one processor if in fact you have a server motherboard with 2 CPU's? If you only have one, can you check your bios and see what it is reporting?

Hmmm, very strange.

Hopefully we will get you, and others back in the game very soon. (Can you also please check to make sure the venting is clear, the video card fan is working, and your machine is not overheating?)

Thanks for your patience,
Jeff

There are no C or other drives to see in johnstumbo`s dxdiag...........:o

Has johnstumbo installed all the drivers for his motherboard? As far as I can see all the motherboard drivers in the DXdiag file originates from his original Windows XP installation. Manni mentions that there is no C: drive, actually there are no drives at all mentioned in the Dxdiag file, not even SCSI or optical drives.

@Jeff Fiske.
There is a Pentium 4 'C' running at 2.6Ghz which has HT. The code for it is BX80532PG2600D. The OEM (Tray) version has code RK80532PG064512. You can also get a Pentium 4 'C' 2.4Ghz and 2.8Ghz with HT. All are with the Northwood core.

The 3.06Ghz you are thinking at is the last FSB533 with the Northwood core, after that one came for a relative short time a series Northwood CPUs with FSB800 starting with the 2.4Ghz and the fastest announced ran at 3.4Ghz but I don't think it ever went retail. After that came the Prescott.

I had forgoten and overlooked those. Thanks for pointing that out.

They are pretty easy to forget as there are not many of them. It looks like Intel used them as stopgab until they got the heat problems with the Prescott so much under control they could let it go retail :) I once could all the P4 CPUs out of my head but then they started giving them performance numbers like AMD does and I gave up as it simply became too insane with all those variants.

So why is my hard drive not showing up and how can I fix that. I have a 70gb hard drive with over 30gb available that should be fine right?

Anybody anything???

Jeff Fiske

I assumed you edited that out for some reason. Maybe Mouse, Manni, Keith, or Phil(x) have seen this before but I have not.

How many drives do you have? (Both Hard Drives & CD/DVD, drives please).

Can I ask you to please post your CaesarIV.ini file? It shows up as "CaesarIV Configuration file"
in a standard windowsxp browser.

I am waiting for someone with either the trade route or saved game problem to post as there is a chance that the installer is recording the wrong drive, and that would show up in this file.

One more thing. Do you use any Anti-spy/windows defender? If not, can you please try using Adware6.0, SpyBot seek and destroy, or if you are unfamilar with any of these, use HiJack this and post a log. (http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/programs.php)

Thanks again for your patience and help tracking this stuff down
Jeff

I have seen this problem before on other dxdiag.txt files. Its kind of rare but it does happen. I don't know why it happens.

What a wasted weekend. Buying a new game on friday thinking I could play this weekend and no dice. Have tried everything and still keeps freezing up. I have rebooted my computer more in the last three days then I have in the last three weeks and I turn it off every night. Can't believe this. Very disapointed.

If you have another decent computer in the house maybe try installing it on that comp and see if it plays fine. When my desktop was randomly restarting when i installed C4, i grabbed my laptop and installed it on there. The game ran perfectly fine on the laptop so i knew it was not game related but something with my desktop. Come to find out that one of my background programs was clashing with C4 causing it to crash.

Have closed all background programs and still no dice. I have three other computers but none with the graphics card as good as this or as much memory. So I dont believe it would do any good. But thanks for the thought.

My game is constantly crashing on trade routes and the computer has to be restarted. At this point the game is unplayable until I can find the solution to this problem because restarting the computer every 5 minutes is annoying. I'll attach my dxdiag in case it helps someone.
