Those of you experiencing problems with your system when was the last time you scanned and cleaned your registry file, among other maintenance functions.
Microsoft has a free service for registered XP users that will scan your system for virii, spyware, check for hard drive fragmentation, clean up old files, clean out your temp and temporary internet files folder, and scan and clean your system registry file.
I use this service myself at least once a month now. I've never had a problem with it or my system after using it. I do a full system scan, which on my system takes roughly 45 mins or so due to the number of items on my hard drive. So it will take a while to complete.
