You need newer video drivers it would be best to go to Dell and get them for your laptop. Look for drivers dated between January and May 2006.

Unfortunately for the Mobility users ATI only offers the newest drivers for their X300 and up. They don't seem to have a Previous Drivers section for the Radeon Mobility cards like they do for the regular Radeon cards.

prof786 could have a go with the MOD-tool
His RADEON X300 is in their "YES IT WORKS"-list

Mod Tool V4 is for ATI Mobiliity users and lets you use the regular ATI Radeon drivers with your Mobility cards.

well my temp fix is backfiring. for no pause is long enough to keep the game from crashing.
and i'm trying to access the mod tool above, but it can't help me locate my ATI card on the c:/ drive.

i got the mod tools positioned on my computer. however, the ati catalyst installer does not identify my graphics card.

If you follow the READ-ME from the MOD-TOOL you`ll will know how and what to do to get the ATI-CARD-driver into your ATI-chip.
The ATI-CATALYST-INSTALLER WILL NOT identify your graphic-C H I P cos you haven`t forced it through the mod-tool yet.
According to your dxdiag you have an ATI MOBILITY RADEON X300-cip inside laptop. This particular chip IS ready to work with the mod-tool.

go down the page and read Installation step by step guide

after everything, i turned off the shadows. the game doesn't give me any problems.
why was it like that? i don't know. but this was a common remedy to most of the problems that i read about in this forum.
thought that i would give it a try.

Rendering shadows requires extra GPU processing power and time and can put a lot of stress on less capable video cards.
Glad you got things worked out.
