I really need help.. the villagers appear as giant tornados of spikes and wierd shaped polygons..

its same problem mentioned in this thread..

http://www.tiltedmill.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9591

However, I need help fixing something else..

I Have an acer aspire laptop.. it has an ATI mobility radeon X1400 card..

For some reason Acer does not update its driver database so they have some ATI drivers dated march 2006. I had installed these old drivers and all other games worked OK.. but now for this game.. I too am getting the polygon looking people problem with these old crappy ATI drivers ( DXDIAG says its version 6.14.0010.6587)

The bigger problem is that I went on ATI website and downloaded this compatibility setup.. the setups tells me that "This software update cannot be installed on your system.. please contact the notebook manufacturer.."

I contacted Acer and they say they cant help me.. their driver database is apparently updated YEARLY !! They also said that "ATI setup says contact the manufacturer because ATI setups detects my computer as an OEM machine so does'nt let me mess with the drivers"

So can anyone please tell me a workaround to install the new ATI radeon drivers !! :(

Yeah... It's safe lol.

The Omega Drivers are compatible with all ATI Radeon cards:
(it doesn't matter if they are DDR, SDR, PCI, PCI-E, AGP, Mobile, Retail, OEM or 3rd Party)

Radeon All In Wonder
Radeon 7x00/VE/LE
Radeon 8500/LE
Radeon 9x00/SE/Pro/XT/TX
Radeon xX00/SE/Pro/XT/PE
All Mobility Radeons (M6 and up)

bluezz, I'd stick with the Catalyst drivers. I think someone else had problems with the Omega set a while back.

If you have a Mobility Radeon X1400 and Acer doesn't provide you with a newer driver set than the one you have you can use a 3rd party utility that Manni mentioned before that will let your laptop use regular ATI Catalyst drivers with your Mobility Radeon X1400.
