Ran some tests this moring. Started out with 1842 savings and a favor rating of 51. I sent 4 large gifts, one right after the other. Then 4 medium gifts, and then 4 small. Here's what happened:

Sent first large gift:
--------------------

Cost 921
New favor rating = 63 +12
savings 921

Sent 2nd large gift
-------------------
Cost 460
New favor rating = 71 +8
savings 461

Send 3rd large gift
-------------------
Cost 230
New favor rating = 75 +4
savings 231

send 4th large gift
-------------------

Cost 115
New favor rating = 75 +0
Savings 116

------------------------------------------------------------

Medium gift
savings 1842 favor 51

send 1st medium gift
Cost 480
New favor rating 59 + 8

send 2nd medium gift
----------------------
savings 1382
cost 345
New favor rating = 65 + 6

send 3rd medium gift
--------------------
savings 1037
cost 259
new favor rating = 67 +2

send 4th medium gift
----------------------
savings 778
cost 194
new favor rating = 67 +0

---------------------------------------------------------------

First small gift
savings 584
cost 70
new favor rating 72 +5

2nd small gift
savings 514
cost 61
new favor rating 76 +4

3rd small gift
savings 453
cost 54
new favor rating 77 +1

4th small gift
savings 399
cost 47
new favor rating 77 +0

Conclusions:

Large Gifts: You can send three and each costs half of CURRENT savings Medium Gifts: You can send three and each costs about 1/4 of CURRENT savings Small Gifts: You can send three and each costs about 1/8 of CURRENT savings

Thanks Grumpus,

3 questions 'pop' to mind:

a) were all 4 respective gifts given within one year?
b) if so, will it 'reset' the following year and give these values again?
c) are the favour values/cost the same if you do a successive 'small, medium, large' gift within the assumed 1year timeframe?

Thanks for sharing your work so far...:)

The proportion of savings only applies once you have a certain amount of cash-on-hand...if you only have 50dn or so, you won't be able to send a large gift.

a) Gifts were given one right after the other.
b) No. You've had it for that scenario.
c) Not sure what you mean.

Using your numbers:
3 L gifts yield 24 favor @ 1611 cost
3 M gifts yield 16 favour @ 1084 cost
3 S gifts yield 10 favour @ 185 cost

Now,
1 S gift @ 230 (base 1842 1/8 rounded) -> 5 favour
1 M gift @ 403 ([1842-230]/4) -> 8 favour
1 L gift @ 605 ([1842-230-403]/2) -> 12 favour
Total for three gifts - 25 favour @ 1238 cost

Would that be right, and is that repetitive corresponding to your second/third tier of favour (4,6,8) and (1,2,4) for a total of 50 favour in one scenario?
Guess I'm just a 'scrooge'...;)

The cost is not an absolute value, it relates to your saving amount, so if you have larger savings you pay more.

with paying a larger price do you get a larger favor boost?

Of what I'm gathering so far, Phil, I don't think so, thus my question to Grumpus about going from small to large gifts - reducing your funds and getting away 'cheaper' for about the same 'credit in favour'...

No boost is the same.

I think I understand this. I was just wondering if you get more 'bang(favour) for your buck(dinarii)' depending on a gift giving strategy... as in my example starting with a small gift and going up end up to cost you about 400 less than giving 3 large gifts with about the same favour effect (25 vs 24)
