Hi all,

just before i met all my goals at carthago, security rating drops to zero. Because of crimes occuring in the city. Here's what I did:

I had a bit of unemployment so i deleted some pleb housing, to make unemployment rates go down.
I had 2 Forums build, a basilica and a lot of prefect offices throughout the city.
I have a Temple of Jupiter and various shrines (get message: criminals are disappearing from the streets)
Finally, I built a weapons industry and 2 forts (i have bought of the past attacks)

BUT NOTHING HAPPENS TO THE SECURITY RATING!
Am I missing something here or is this a bug? I mean it was like 60 just before it dropped completely. Anyone experienced this? What else can one do about crime-rates? ANy help would be verrryyy appreciated.. this is making me nuts...

join me brother, i have walls, at least 12 shrines to jupiter, 2 temos to jup, 3 forts, A well trained milatary, and i don't know how many prefects, but it's alot, i also got forum and basilisca. ONE building got sacked, ONE, and i thinks that was what sent me to zero, and it just hasent risen.

Must be kind of bug.The security rating begin to rise when I load the game.

IMHO,you have to worry about the favor rating: Give your storage pits and granaries orders to only accept certain kind of goods, otherwise you'll have no space to stockpile when Caesar's demand/request comes.:)

Unemployment leads to crime which lowers your security. It takes some time for your people to get over it. :)

I got stuck with the same problem a while ago.

Make sure you have sufficient denarii in your treasury. If payday for your citizens arrives and you don't have enough to pay them, they will get extremely angry and criminals will start appearing. Also, make sure they can get food easily without having to walk too far, and that you're producing enough food in the first place, otherwise they will start stealing stuff.

Building more prefectures/walls/forts etc. won't help if you don't solve the abovementioned problems. Cheers!

Build more shrines and temples to Jupiter. If you have cohort, build for Mars too. If you have trade, build for Mercury too. If you have exotic goods, build for Bacchus too. If you short of food, build for Ceres. Thats what I did for my city :P So far I don't have serious crime because my prefects are almost half of my walkers out there:eek:

Thanks:)

I haven't played the Carthago Mission yet, but I had the same problem in Narona, and what finally solved it for me was making sure my plebians and equites had plenty of education coverage. Education seems to be the primary means for reducing crime; prefects arrest the criminals but can't keep them from appearing in the first place. I'm not even sure if justice coverage from forums and the basillica reduce crime rate, as it doesn't say anything about it in the manual.

low unemployment, plenty of food and goods, prefects, walls and education buildings all raise security levels.
all these things make your people feel safe and secure. :)

I, too, had security problem in Nargo, then in Cathargo.

My solution. 1 Prefect per 200 population. Lotsa shrines to Jupiter (I often received message that Juptier removed criminals). Lotsa food; a hungry population is a violent population. I also had 3 cohorts.

Walls will increase security. You need to surround Equites and Patricians. As you build, ensure there are no minor breaks in walls. You can tell if walls are complete if your Medium Domus upgrade to Large.

To make wall building more effective, I ceate neighborhoods: one for each of the classes. I place Equites and Patricians next to each other and surround with walls.

On a side note, I've only bought-off the invaders once in all missions. "Millions for defense, not one penny for tribute!!!":)

It is a bug, I experienced this weird behavior as well, in Carhago only though. Walls around city, prefectures, forts, good jupiter rating, low unemployment etc, security rating would stay at zero, for years. I spent 3 years trying to raise that rating, with no succes, description on security colums was like:" Your security doesnt raise because there are still crimes occuring in city".
So i started to lay down prefectures, like mad, with the intent of eliminating crime from my city. After a while, in advisor chief window, red message changed to yellow, and security started to raise again. Now i cant say if thwarting crime was the answer to that, cause i think i reloaded the game 1 or 2 times.
Never experineced a similar problem since, only Carthago. Something for devs to look into.
