Hi everyone. :)

As a former C3 player I just had to pick up C4 when I saw that it was available. And I can't say that I've been disappointed. My hat's off to TM for putting such a wonderful game together.

Ahh, the fun and frustration of pleasing Rome. :D

I have played several of the scenarios and Kingdom maps to get used to the game before before getting into the campaign. I'm on my second time into Narona, got evicted the first time. Ive corrected all of my problems, Rome is happy, and I'm making good money from exporting. All other requirements are met, but for some reason, I can't get my prosperity to a level to win that land. I've got 6 large villas and the best I can do is 49, 50 is required. They claim to require walls before they will evolve any further. So I placed a wall around my city, still get the same message and after a while my prosperity starts dropping..

So I built a second bridge, placed another 6 villas and all of the services which could fit on the other side where there was room and eventually got my prosterty up to 50. But still didn't win that land. Then after a while, the prosperity rating started to drop again. :(

So my questions are:
What are the requirements for prosperity?
Is there a time period where prosperity needs to be at a certain level before you win?

Thanks,
Kays :)

Welcome to our family, Kays! :)

Prosperity Rating appears to be related to evolution state & class of your residences. Patricians more than Equites & Equites more than Plebs.

Higher evolution of each class gets you more Prosperity points than lower. The smallest of each class gets you basically nothing.

Look to your Insulas & Domus. Evolve them as far as they will go. Perhaps you need to minimize the total number of Insulas.

Good Luck! :)

Hi everyone. :)

What are the requirements for prosperity?

Thanks,
Kays :)

Each level of housing has a certain level of prosperity. The higher houses evolve the more prosperity they contribute to the city. Your overall prosperity rating is determined by the Plebe/Equite/Patrician ratio. To see how all this works go here (http://donirv.freehostia.com/City%20Building/Prosperity.htm)

Thanks MarkDuffy, I did see your post on the requirements of evolution which helped somewhat in determining that the lack of wall is what was stopping any further development of the villas.

And thanks for the math lesson Grumpus. :D
In looking at those numbers I now see why my prosperity was dropping. After building the villas I always need to add more domis and at 35 maxed out they were bringing it down. What I could of done at that stage was to actually destroy a few to get the number of buildings down to bring the rating up.

I did figure out why the villas wanted walls when I thought I had the city properly walled in. I forgot to place a wall and gatehouse at the bridge. Once I did that the Villas did evolve and I won that land.

Btw, you need 51 for prosterty, not 50.

Again, thanks to both of you for your help. :)

I LOVE to see Win screens, Kays! :D

Btw, you need 51 for prosterty, not 50.

I've heard this before. Supposidly it has to do with how the game rounds numbers. The story goes that 49.5 is displayed as 50. ;)

You have supplied more data for that Lab. Thank you for sharing your experience with us! :)

I don't know if that's the case.

I ran a quick lab on a saved gave where the prosperity was at 47 and by deleting a bunch of domis one by one I was able to slowly rise my prosperity point by point. And I still didn't get the win until it had reached 51.

However this does prove that I am able to increase prosperity by deleting a number of buildings rather than building more. :D

However, by deleting housing, you are reducing your workforce and that could cause your prosperity to fall due to reduced services and goods, if you don't get the success screen very quickly.

Cuz you went from 49.6 (displayed as 50, but not actually 50), then finally actually broke 50 to 50.5 (displayed as 51)?

The game might even do a simple truncation of the decimal for display. 49.9 = 49.

I'm just guessing. The story from a post quoting Sierra/VU Games said "rounding" :)

Found the post (http://www.tiltedmill.com/forums/showpost.php?p=123656&postcount=9) & VU Link (http://www.europesupport.com/vivendi_current/(t0e1lrb1bq3jnp550afvgerh)/Pages/ViewFAQ.aspx?FAQID=1937).

Summary #1937
You have reached ratings goals to complete a level but the win screen does not appear.

Answer #1937

This will occur if you just BARELY met a rating such as security, prosperity, culture, etc. The problem is, that you have not actually met the rating but has ALMOST met the rating, however due to the way the ratings advisor charts work, it is rounding the number up (e.g. Goal for security is 50, player gets 50 but actually has 49.5 which is not represented and is rounded up).
Please get 1 more point in whatever ratings statistic is just barely making the grade and you will be able to get the win screen.
