Thank you,
This should come in handy if I can get the editor to stop crashing on me since I know of very few roman cities so any maps that I would have done without your list would have been with fantasy city names.

I know I saw the post today, but I can't find it right now, someone said that he has resolved his crashing by doing the following:

When you start the game session (each time) you will have to open the Task Manager,(control-Alt-Delete) use the processes tab and find the Caesar4 exe... right click on that and you get a choice.. the game for me has normal priority, but you might be able to set it a little higher.

Once I set a game to highest and it froze my computer, cause I could not close out the Task Manager, so I would advise a lower setting than highest!

See if this works.

Am sorry I can't tell you who gave the tip, but it's worked for me several times today. Thanks buddy!

I tried this when the post was first written about it and it caused havoc. But it seems that the editor is working okey dokey under Windows Media Center Edition, so it looks like until they get this fixed (if they get it fixed) then I'll have to keep dual booting and use windows mce when I want to use the editor.

Of course I've not really tested it all that much under mce, and have only tried it for about 45 minutes but it didn't crash during that 45 minutes so Im keeping my fingers, toes and hair crossed.

Nevermind

U can automatically launch any app with any priority with a shortcut.

Create a new shortcut like this :

cmd.exe /c start "High_start" /high "YOUR_PATH_TO_CAESARIV.EXE"
(Be sure to adjust YOUR_PATH_TO_CAESARIV.EXE :p )

CAUTION : Avoid real time option

BTW for my first post : thanks the community for help about the editor, i appreciate your great infos !

I'm looking for a large map of Roma itself - one that doesn't crash or doesn't require further editing since the editor is apparentlybuggy as hell.

I only have some book maps of Rome. I'm not quite sure that you might want an editor made map. Here is the book map. It is a wonderful resource.

You can download the origninal Roma bonus map at http://www.caesariv.com/us/bonus/thankyou.html and it doesn't require any editing, so far without any user created scenarios, that is the largest scenario that is sort of a free build scenario. So go and download it and you shouldn't need to edit it at all, just play it.

Here are two wonderful pdf maps that will lend a little topography and some historical city names to "google" for stories.

"rve Back" is a map of Italy, and "rve12" is an Empire map.
