Ok, my equites are getting this message. I've read somewhere on here about an issue with this. Does this requirement mean that if I have city walls anywhere it'll count, around the city, or next to the actual building(if so major pain).

Also, I'm new so hello all.

Thanks.

COMPLETELY around the city (or completely around equite housing). Use gatehouses to let roads through the wall.

I usually put my equite housing in a seperate section to allow room to just wall off those houses when i can afford to. Also look for small breaks in the wall as it will detect this as not walled.

Ok, well to take this to a hypothetical level. I'm playing the first level Syracusae because I got a new computer(old one died). The city has water on oneside of the city. So I couldn't in theory wall "all the way around" the city. If I walled a semicircle around the city would that work? Thanks btw.

Welcome to our family, Rsuttles58! :)

Your Medium Domus (Equites) need Walls around them to evolve to Large Domus. Your Large Estates (Patricians) also need Walls around them to evolve to Small Mansions. Insulas never need Walls.

You don't need to Wall your entire city. Your walls can also just go to water & not be a complete circle.

Water counts as a wall, though. :)

Ok thanks. This may be pretty difficult to pull off in this first level since I didn't plan for it...at all. Hopefully I can get by without needing to evolve them anymore.

But most of you just wall around your people that need it? Do you have any strategies for how to plan for it? It's sounding like a MAJOR pain in the arse.

I'm gonna post two images, Rsuttles. First is Syracusae at the Win screen & the second is what I did during Continue Play after the win screen for a few years.

I used 6 Patrician Villas. Walls are not totally necessary to win Syracusae. After win, I added two more & evolved them to max. I also added walls.

Walling your city for evolution of residences is one thing, but later you will need to wall for defense from invaders also. It is a good thing to start to include in all your cities, yes. :)

I just wall around the whole map and pay off invaders...

If you pay off invaders, remember to keep that Denari number up! ;)

PS ~ I have it on good background that Bribing doesn't always work. Worse, later in the Empire Campaign, you cannot Bribe at all!

Let's see, imagining I'm a barbarian...."Hey guys, let's go over to Condate, the governor there thinks we'll leave him alone if he gives us a pile of those little gold things. LOLOLOLOL"

('nother barbarian) "Yeah, but we should take them once or twice. I heard that we can get some nifty weapons from Narbo with those little gold things. Let's go!!!!

...a few months later, outside Condate...."We don't need those little gold things anymore. Look at our kewl swords and armor. Now we want your wimmen!!!!!"
