Scenario Editors ~ Must read!
I don't know what the problem is, but this is a rant thread.
I know you creative types who have played around with the COTN editor have scenarios laying around.
I almost get the impression that each new scenario must be bigger & better or forget it (your point of view).
NOT TRUE! Not true at all.
A scenario can be as simple as a sandbox with just a few World Map sites. Perhaps you left out a resource or not enough. These scenarios can still be played! Even on HARD!
Please, please, please give us your work. Even your work in progress! I have had the most fun with "problem" scenarios. They present a different kind of challenge. Post a disclaimer if you are worried.
Also, many people don't want HUGE or difficult, they just want new.
You took the time to learn the Editor, so don't let your work sit idle on your computer. Please share it with us! Create a thread in the User Created scenario section, cuz THAT is where we look!
It has never been about the Win Screen with me, it is about exploring & opening the World Map ~ Doing everything possible a scenario provides!
Thank you! :)
Suggestion ~ Create a thread with the Title. Reserve post #1 as a dummy post for the FINAL version. Next start your scenario in post #2. Post #1 will have your final version. Leave the scenarios in following posts as OTHER VERSIONS & don't delete them. More different scenarios that way. Perhaps update Post #1 each time with the current version or a link to the post current players should use at the moment. Use version numbers in your downloads, to prevent confusion. Hey, ever seen a game w/o patches? ;) Even if you never "finish", we still have something to play!
Yes I agree with MarkDuffy. Not everything needs to be bigger and better than the previous ones. There could be some new twists, like a timed task, seen that only in one scenario so far! Or something special in the map itself, like the Mediterranean island map. Loved the island map, beautiful and small, lots of things to do! :)
Looking forward to see new user created scenarios. :)

Ain't working, or the door won't open, Max?
My door is pretty much dead. It will open if there is a disk in it, but not if there is not. I have to click on the door button while also right clicking on the My Computer ~ Drive ~ Eject funtion. Over & over ~ till I git lucky.
Burner drive works fine, but some games won't play or won't install there.
So, I leave a dummy disk in the drive at all times. Been doing this for over 4 months now. ;)

I had some problems a while ago, updating drivers and in the process screwed up the set up/config of the boot drive.:(
I have an error in the boot up portion, specifically for that drive[C:].
The door opens and shuts with no problem. My system doesn't even recognize Drive C::mad:
It's been like this for about two months.

Have you tried using a straightened paper clip in that small hole in the front of the drive faceplate near the drive tray door?
It's the manual eject and will manually trigger the drive opening mechanism.

Btw, MD, I hear your call!
I am re-running through the editing tutorials to hone skills of map-making (the hardest part, IYAM) and triggers, so I can do some fun stuff.
Hopefully, I can create a unique set of triggers (different from Matt Zimmitti's) with this map, and post the result. :)

The scenario I have in production won't be released until later for a special reason. ;)
However, I do have one sandbox-style game and an "empire-building" style scenario being in the works and I should have a working alpha completed quite soon. :)

MD, I built that map. I need to make a world level, and maybe a goal or two, and I can release it, bugs and all. ;)
FYI, there is a pseudo easter-egg in there for the old city-builder crowd. :)

Thanks guys, but I was really talking about the old crowd & even TM themselves.
These people have scenarios laying around. I know they do.

There are alot more people that made scenarios that just them, Mark. I myself made a few, which although beautiful lack a good world map and triggered events, so I am totally never uploading them.....  :( :o :o

Well I know this thread was started over 8 months ago but just letting Mark know I'm working on a new scenario while waiting for The Keep to be released. Am trying to work out a two path scenario i.e follow peaceful or military path ( can only follow one path or the other at one time ) but only started yesterday so will be a while yet. I am trying to make it different from Saqqara but haven't started work on triggers yet....:) There has been so many great scenarios put out recently that I held off for ages but this thread has encouraged me to try again.

I've been a bit preoccupied with real life lately, but "Kharga Oasis" is still in the works, but I already have much of the World-Level (where I do nearly all my editing ;) ) planned out. Still need to set the figures and test the triggers.

I have recently tried my hand at scenario making, and have ideas for future ones if all goes well
