View Full Version : Silwa Valley: rebirth of Egyptian rule

Silwa Valley
Setting: Third Intermediate Period - Enormous Map

The Nubian pharoah Tantamani has been expelled by the Assyrian army, and the 26th Dynasty has opened its capital in Sais. You are one of 20 "kinglets," lesser pharoahs with reign over discreet areas of Egypt. You have been assigned to rule the Silwa region and to assist the ruling Saite pharoah in re-uniting the kingdom. Any remains of the former Nubian rule must be excised, and replaced with the beautiful city that only native-born Egyptians can produce.

This is my first scenario. In it you will find text & trigger bugs, geographical errors, historical inaccuracies, and a blatant disregard for Egyptian mythology. Despite all that, I hope you have as much fun playing it as I did making it.

The snapshots below contain spoilers, so don't peek if you want to be surprised!

Silwa was originally built as a sandbox, but the trigger-tweaker in me got out and added goals and battles. If you only want to sandbox it, avoid military conflict; Don't start none, won't be none. :p And don't panic when you see how few villagers there are, you never know when a few more might show up....

I sincerely hope that if you notice an error that I can fix, you'll drop me a line in this thread or send me a private message so I can make corrections. And if you like what I've made or absolutely hate it, be sure to make a post or rate this thread to let me know if I should make more.

[Edit - Final version up and ready to play, complete with end screen. So sorry for the delay.]

Thank you for Silwa Valley, Mr. Gig !!! :)

It is always most excellent to see new scenariomakers share their creations! I just finished checking out yours & it looks great! I can't wait to play it.

Thank you also for your kind words, but they were not necessary. :o

Loved your scenario, Mr. Gig! Thank you! :)

Imaged here is my completed city at year 42 on Hard. Tough & long scenario. Loved killing the Nubian Outpost (Yikes!) & the Valley of Kings was a shock to open! :D

Scenario info had a bunch of goals that I think were totally met, but it also called it a "sandbox", so I guess there is no Win Screen. World Map is complete & open, but not imaged here to keep the surprize.

I'm so very glad you liked it. I need to nail a few bugs with triggers, so I thank you for your patience while I work out the kinks.

The reason I called this scenario "primarily a sandbox" is because it sticks to one of my life-philosophies: Don't start none, won't be none. So long as you don't participate in military action, you can build forever.

I'll ask a few of the more experienced editors for help with the triggers and get an updated version up as quickly as possible.

I have completed all the goal for temples and pyramid. I have openedtrade /completed all items on the map except the final battle with Napata - there is no "finger" and requirements list for being able to go there. I have 3 army, 3 navy and over 100 soldiers, tons of envoys, food, and prestiege...but cannot trigger this last city to allow me to attack. Otherwise the scenario worked fine (goals were pretty easy to achieve) and I liked your map a lot (allowed for a pretty city but was not rediculously huge)

I know, I'm having a little trouble figuring out the triggers. I promise I will have a final version uploaded soon, and thank you all for your patience with me while I get it right.

EDIT - Ok, I admit; I was stubborn. I knew what I wanted to do, I just couldn't translate it from my head to the editor...yet.

After a lot of confusion as to whether a WM site is open, dead, not dead, closed, visible, invisible, toying with my emotions and never going to call, etc, I decided to simplify the end goals and add a few more WM sites so I can upload something playable.

I have to put it through one more test phase, which I should get to tomorrow after work, and then I'll upload it for everyone. Again, I really appreciate your patience while I get this right. Look for the final version before the weekend.

Final version is done, tested, and uploaded. If there's anything I missed, please let me know. Again, sorry for the delay, but I think you'll find it was worth it.

I added a lot more World Sites, and added a surprise that will make your life easier. (If you figure it out.) There's still a lot of envoys required, but it's worth the wait. Enjoy!

Just played Silwa after a brief layoff (gardening season). For some reason, I forgot to check the "tips" so just played blind. Thanks for a neat scenario.

Hi Mr. Gig

I just downloaded your senario. Everyone seems to think it is great, but I didn't want to read too much and spoil it :) I'm looking forward to playing it.

The download is one .scn file, Basts princess. Place it in your Scenario folder & then load the game. Play it via your "Play a Scenario" option.
