Last of the Revisited scenarios. This one is... different.

5000 population and 80s all round... these are the straightforward goals. To achieve victory you must also persuade 6 cities to trade who don't want to - without knowing in advance what they will buy and what they will sell.

Don't believe everything your Resource Advisor or the Empire Map tell you...

I've given the map to give it a frosty appearance for the story - but if you prefer you can use Mailman653's snow mod (available from Caesar IV Heaven (http://caesar4.heavengames.com/downloads/showfile.php?fileid=84). For this you will need Mailman's version of C4_Apron_NE_02.dds, and Lugdunum_Color.dds (take a copy and rename to "Lugdunum Revisited_Color.dds") (Usual warnings about taking backups of originals apply). Blizzardicus's blizzard mod is worth trying too (if you haven't already).

This scenario is meant to fall in the "fun, not too difficult" category. The key is to make the most of the trading opportunities you have, and be prepared to spend denarii to find out what other trading opportunities are out there.

Enjoy!

Another blast from the past. :)

Nicely done scenario. I always seem to enjoy Lugdunum. :p I have to confess, though, that these shots are from my second time through. The first time it was all I could do to just get the criteria for opening the trade routes, but the second time I opened most of them before the next one came along.

A nice city, with that fancy governor's residence
A bird's eye view of the city (perhaps a dove from the temple of Jupiter)
Victory. And it's always nice to know old Caesar likes you. He really likes me.

Great city again Jimaaten!

Little known fact: The Dark Pool was originally intended to be a follow-up to this one, as a sort of military version of Lugdunum Revisited... But it stayed on the shelf for months. Then I was just dusting it down when along came this insane tester (now my publicity agent, as you may have gathered ;) ), and the rest (as they say) is history. ;) :D

Enjoying Lug Revisited.... but....

I can't manage to open more than the first three trade routes (Latium, Augusta Trevorum and Tarraco). While I've been able to afford to send delegations off, and Burdigla, Virunum and Sarmizegetusa would open trade -- but only if I have "a market for exotic goods" or can provide goods requiring iron, grapes or olives. Right now, I have only jewelry. No iron, no olives, no grapes.

A hint on how to get one or more of those resources (preferably one which would allow me to manufacture another luxury good) would be greatly appreciated. Or a hint on some other way to attract patricians.

Maggie

P.S. I have a governor's residence, forum, odeums (perfect coverage), two temples (perfect coverage for Jupiter and Mercury), shrines to Mars and Ceres (also perfect coverage), a library (perfect coverage), and of course, bath house and perfect clniic coverage. The city is fully walled and I am providing two basic goods (clothing and pottery) and one luxury good (jewelry). Population is about 2000.

Have you tried building temples to the other gods, Maggie? I expect they'll be very grateful for it ;)

Have I said this before? Probably, but it's worth repeating: You're evil, you know that?
