Hi,
I wanted to participate in the Simtropolis forum, signed up and am waiting for my pwd. It has been 40 mins and no pwd has arrived yet. It can't be that my mail is slow, cause I've gotten about 40 response mails to the TM forum posts. I used back button to review the email address I posted, and it is correct. I am getting other emails at that address.
Can someone please help me get sorted at Simtropolis?

Feel free to come over to Simphoni (http://www.simphoni.net/forums/index.php?showforum=25) to discuss things as well. things aren't quite as hectic there...

Thanks for the welcome.
There was not a lot of time to chase down someone at Simtropolis. I'm busy with another project and had a few spare hours, but the tempo is up again. Hopefully someone will pm me with a contact so I can deal with becomming a member.
If there is a way to add SCS to our site's contests, we will be more than glad to have SCS added to our list of supported citybuilders. We would need some way to note data so the games could be presented as contests.

I'll flag Rybolton or Dirk down to take a look at what's up.

I'm registered there too. You can check, there are a few good things going on, including a cooling of and rationalizing.
There is also talk about a licence-free simtropolis 1000 (can't say it wouldn't be good. In fact I wished for something like that months (years) ago...
But things are already beginning to settle and there isn't much more than what is to be expected (like we had for CotN and C4).
The moderators also called for more civilized manners.

Hello Arcan and everyone else,
I had an hour to dig around at Simtropolis and eventually found somene with admin under their names. Then I went through the member list in TM forums and found two of the names. There is no way to leave a message at the site unless you are logged in.
I would like to be a member whether they are adjusting or not. I want to learn more about the fan groups and the game. Apparently there is an existing polarization within the sim players. Poor TM can't even approach sorting out issues till the great official announcement. With such heated discussions, I can understand why EA might be hiding out. All of this upset is energy draining when one could be doing something else. (like making games!)
Thanks for the feedback.

Anti-TM posts have been ranging from relatively mild to extreme at Simtropolis. Simtropolis has great content and an extremely dedicated community, but right now TM is not the most popular at that site although there are several that are expressing interest and a willingness to give SCS a chance. Reminds me of the Civ3 vs Civ4 days. ;)

I remember that well, 'Zeem. The Multplayer groups for each game were millitant as well.
Change is rarely appreciated. Actually, you know the fans have invented their own game, having made two or more dvds with material on them! So how could any developer replicate a collection like that? The best one might expect is a new view on the original, with its own path.
(PS. If you don't have time for a cotn confection, its ok.)

Well, I'm a Simcity fan too from the first game. So I understand them and I must admit, I'm (a little) concerned too :o
If you take the exemple of Civilization, the one that was externalized wasn't up to the others. The same concern is here.
On top of that, it's been many years since the last came out, and there was already with it some (disapointment ?). Everyone thought it would be 3D but wasn't. Turned out it is a GREAT game though.
Only the expansion came (it was really really needed for various reasons). But nothing else so the community developped an impressive amount, not only of new bats, but of mods to correct the bugs, change some aspects and so on.
Believe me for those who are not there, it is HUGE. To make an equivalent (and I haven't seen anything) it's just like if they had redesigned the game entirely twice over...
So the ideas about a next SC were pretty detailed. And things seem to be going another way. As if everything they had done had been thrown to the bin.
Besides, for a lot of people, the main part of the game is no more about micromanaging (that part has become "natural") but building a city as real-life as possible. Check some of the screenshots. they are most impressive.
And here too, the firest pics look to be heading somewhere else.
I hope there will soon be some other pictures that show aspects we're waiting for. Or correcting impressions from the first ones.

There's nothing new there...if its not TM they're attacking it's somebody else.
