I myself am a SimCity fan, just like all the others. I'm not being mean here, but I just wanted to say, that a while back that Will Wright did mention how complicated SimCity was to new users, and discouraging them from playing. Especially SimCity 4 with all its features they are overwhelming for new timers playing the game. If anybody still remembers, which seems like nobody does...
Read this:
http://www.simcity4.co.uk/content/view/13/2/
It also talked about how Will Wright commented on how complicated the game was for new users. I've explained that before
A member of the Maxis team talked about how SimCity 5 would go back to its roots and become much simpler Well ok even a Maxis team member said the game would become simpler..
Now what was mentioned in the past it is now being done by Tilted Mill, their job to make SimCity suitable for new players, and make the game less intimidating, and yet still maintain the fun of the game. Hopefully I've cleared up somethings that current simcity fans probably haven't read or forgot all about this before.

This is as bad saying hey lets turn Gran Turismo 4 and Forza into total arcade racers.
If Tilted Mill wanted to make it easier for new users then add OPTIONS to automate eg piping, roads, disastar clean up etc, but also give us the OPTIONS to disable any automated aids.
Even Theme Park games on the Nintendo DS gives you OPTIONS to automate based on how new you are to the game.
So keyword here is OPTIONS , Dont just force everyone to dumb down, give us OPTIONS to dumb it down if we choose.

No disrespect to anyone but SC4 is far to simple as it is, even on hard once you learn a few basic rules . And now they propose to make it even easyier ,lol you know the only time SC4 has ever been challenging is when the road networks hit the 65535 bug and traffic management becomes a real problem ,other than that every other problem you encounter as mayor has a resolve within the game , you just have to find it and thats the challenge take away the challenge of a pc game and you loose the essence of what pc gaming is all about .You can start a new city in sc4 with 100,000 , take aloan for 200,000 and build a city making 1700 a month clear within a game year .Then take another loan equivelent to just less than your profits and expand the city again ,you can spam loans from simnation ,and it does make it to easy , after 15 years of loan spamming and expansion your city should be raking in enough cash to buy anything you want , you can even spam loans, save up demolish and completely rebuilt if you wanted.

This has been said before, but I think it should be re-iterated: Has anyone considered that this simply may just be a spinoff and not the actual SimCity 5? If it IS SimCity 5, then why isn't it being called SimCity 5?
And don't give the "because it has the SimCity name" argument. "Halo Wars" is an RTS but has the "Halo" (a shooter) name too. "Super Mario RPG" is an RPG but has the "Super Mario" (a platformer) name. Games of different genres under the same franchise are fairly common.
Also, a game with simple mechanics can be fairly challenging as well. Chess, for example, has simple rules but is extremely difficult to master. More complexity doesn't necessarily equate to a challenge.
