Okay...I'm sure this has been asked before, but how do I upload a screen shot of my city in the Empire portion of Caesar Online? I know how to submit my city, but not the screen shot.

Thanks!

Click on the website button and there should be upload screenshot button with all the current standings of that contest.

Where exactly would that button be? I clicked the "Website" button and it took me to the CaesarIVOnline home screen, but I don't see a Submit button  . This is for the Empire, not Caesar's Challenge. Does that make a difference?

I never played empire, but it should be the same either way. On the stat bar on the lower left there is a green icon button with a "+" sign in it, click on it an it brings up another dialog box with a "upload screenshot" icon in it.

That's strange...My screen has the Submit button, the current population, and the high population, but no "+".

I appreciate the help, Rnett...maybe Empire mode is different. I know it's possible because other players have shots of their cities.

Welcome to our family, Ace of Spades! :)

Yeah, the Empire looks a bit different. No + button. However, it uploads a full city snapshot when you click on the "Scenario Info button" to get a new win screen & hit submit.

EDIT: Now that's weird. I just loaded & used the regular SUBMIT button on the bottom left of the screen. It uploaded my blank map of Amida (http://www.caesarivonline.com/empire/city/3382/) & also gave me a snapshot there. However, Amida is a sandbox w/o a win screen possible.

I don't know why you are having problems.

RE-EDIT: I found your city of Viminacium (http://www.caesarivonline.com/empire/city/3331/). No city snapshot there. Try uploading it again by either method I mentioned above. You have won the scenario already.

I also found other players with snapshots on scenarios that DO have win screens, but they have not won yet.

Thanks Mark! I'll give this a try.

I had assumed that pressing the "Submit" button would do the trick. When I click it mid-game I get a wide angle view of the city & then the "Your city has been uploaded" screen (or something). I'll try it the other way & see if that works.

Edit: Nothing seems to work. Maybe there's something wrong with my copy of the game. I can take screenshots while I'l playing a scenario or campaign, though.....Strange.

Hmmmm. It sounds to me like a security issue, Ace of Spades. You say the game IS taking the snapshot (you described the process correctly), but something is blocking that part of the upload. Possibly something to do with ports. (Wild Guess).

I'm not a Technical person, so hopefully Reed or someone else can jump in here.

In the Empire online game the Submit button does it all. It uploads the data and the screenshot of the city. Something is odd if the data is being transmitted but not the screenshot.

For online play, any network firewall or router must be set to allow incoming and outgoing data packets to be allowed through to the PC through TCP port 3306.

Curiouser & curiouser.....I started a game in "Caesar's Challenge" and played a few minutes until my results were updated. Went to the Ratings advisor (I think) and pressed the button and what do you know...It uploaded a screenshot of my city. I'll check on the Firewall thing though....

Amen...I can take screenshots in-game & in Caesar's Challenge, but not the Empire!! :(

EDIT---I finally got it to work. I had to set my firewall to allow incoming/outgoing data (like Keith suggested)...which is strange because I successfully uploaded a screenshot to "Caesar's Challenge" before I did this.

Anyway, it's fixed...Thanks to all!

Aaarrrghh!!!

I thought this problem was fixed, but apparently it was a fluke. I added Caesar IV to my firewall exceptions list, uploaded a screenshot, & everything was cool. Just tried it tonight with a different scenario & nothing. I even opened the port instead of adding an exception & nothing.

Sorry....Just had to rant.
