Dalminiumus http://www.citybuilder.de/sample/Dalminium_Color.jpg
Now governor, your second task will not please you: On his last campaign the emperor got more and more often into difficulties because of bad provisioning.Therefore he commanded to establish colonies in the unsettled areas of Dalmatia. Their main purpose is the production of food. Crop for the panis militaris castrensis – legionnaires bread.
You are assigned to erect in the fertile plains of the Dalmatian swamp 50 farms for crop growing each with its own silo . Up from now in approx. 4 years the troops will require a years production of crop – and then every year anew.The senate will require a variety of your products, too. For this purpose you should always be able to produce two full stocks or silos of your goods. You will not have problems with your workers. Remember, no one likes to get wet feeds on his way to work. How you build and complete your city and how you succeed in trapping aristocratic families in this unhealthy region – may be left to you. You should face military problems building four barracks of heavy infantry.But maybe nothing happens. Hopefully.
At special advice: a good educated medical fraternity in this fever contamined region would be helpful. Your order will last 25 years. Afterwards Rome will concluding assess your work: The usual appraisals about the city funds and the number of unemployed persons. Pay especially attention to the last position. You never should accommodate more than 8000 inhabitants in your city. Good farm workers but also administration specialists are needed everywhere. And the senate will keep an eye on the satisfaction of the citizens. Before we forget: Your credit in Rome amounts to 2.500 Denarii. You are not allowed to exceed this limit. You will be displaced at once. At once I say!

The second main scenario from the current european c4 contest. Quite heavy, please remember: no goals, because the best player with the best valuations wins :D

I'll try this one, but I dont understand the ultimate objective.. http://www.cosgan.de/images/smilie/konfus/a015.gif
Do I keep playing for 25 years.....then what??? http://www.cosgan.de/images/smilie/konfus/a030.gif

Hm.
The objective ist to reach the highest possible valutations after 25 years,
not more than 8000 inhabitants after 25 years, nearly no one ist unemployed after 25 years, no one is unhappy after 25 years (red colored heads).
Organisation is asked. Long ways for workers. And the request for 2000 grain after 4 years and then every year is quite complicated.
Valutationexample : 100/100/100/100, 6140 inhabitants, 78000 Denarii, everybody is happy in his town, 6 unemployed people.
Check if you reach this.

Hopefully you understand this info. :eek:

While I haven't played this scenario yet, I believe Ahk-horus is saying that it is a sandbox scenario. No goals/no win screen. He probably just posted the winning contest entry.
This is probably one of those similar to C4 Online. Most pop, best rating, most denari all wrapped into one.

I'm afraid I cannot comprehend what is meant by "valuations". Maybe a language problem.
As someone who knows a bit about contests, if you are going to have a contest you need clear and unambiguous completion criteria and winning criteria, and they need to be stated up front.
I did look at the earlier contest, and might have entered, but could not locate an English language version.

Well. Yes, sometimes language is the problem. "Valutations" means rating levels (as quoted in the Editorscreen). Following text is out of an reply to Dalan, who asked about our contest:
At first, excuse my english.
We've created the scenarios for our Contest (german: Wettbewerb) and published it on caesar4.de (http://www.caesar4.de), a german forum and on staedtebauen.de (http://www.staedtebauen.de) and on our site (http://www.citybuilders.de) as well. In german of course. Started in may, ends in october, every month a new one appear, and approximately every week a "little" scenario - for practice! (german : Miniwettbewerb)
Our friends in UK, France, Spain, Italy and goodness knows translated it to their languages and distibuted it in turn - without any website - to their friends. And everybody send his output to our e-mail and we create the ranking. ~ 250 people last week taken part in.
Because this contest is a raffle (german : gewinnspiel)and associated with an price - an original roman coin - we only able to publish this contest in german and EU, according to customs regulations and other questions of law between US/EU.
All these scenarios are quite heavy, using only a few scripting, mainly work with topografically and tradingoptions. There were no rating goals to reach, the misson is to make the best exercise in 10 years or to reach an maximum trading profit in an given time for example or something like this.
Well, now our contest is running in week 12. We receive saves from greece, denmark, netherlands, france, spain, united kingdom, ireland, helvetia, kosovo and from the Goethe-Institut in Bejing and the international school in Kyoto and .........its a long list. And as you know, the results are independent from the language.
Puh, i hope that's clear enough.
ahk-horus
P.S. Our "friends" are mostly students in computer siences and their friends. They do some volunteer in our team and/or practical training in our sponsoring companies.

Yes, dalan, thanks too, interesting layout.
At least the streets "under the sea" :D
Oh, and the circus is not connect to the town ?? Any reason for that ??
ahk-horus
Dalan, great looking city! :)

Still people who don't know this? ;) :) This way no workers are needed for it, nor a charioteer guild, and it functions. :cool: :D

Why don't you share what you know with all of us?

I'd be happy to, Kiya. It was me you were posting to w/o a name attached, no? Ignoring that...
1) A Player has the right to play anyway he/she wishes.
2) When I first downloaded the save, it displayed with another "very interesting", cuz I haven't installed Ahk-horus's excellent scenario yet (but I will! :) ). I was shocked that I could even do it. Good stuff, TM!
No need to thank me, Kiya. It is not necessary.

Sorry if I didn't mention your name. I thought you would understand it was for you since I posted right after you.

I don't quite get you now. I have downloaded other people's saves, without installing the scenario first myself, and they all have played beautifully. Did you mean this?
And thank you, MarkDuffy, for replying to me.

ahk-horus
The streets under the sea was an attempt to find a path across the water. :D
I do not connect the circus because it is not necessary for it to be to get the 100 for culture.
I should note I hit 8010 in population :eek: at one point (which I immediately zapped an insulae) so I should have gone back to an earlier save but since I was playing for fun did not do. (25 years is a long time).
Thank you ahk-horus for a fun game. 2000 wheat is a lot.

Kiya, C4 has more files to a scenario then COTN does. There are things missing from a C4 save. For example, many displays are blank, like the descriptions for requests & Empire Map labels.
It is kinda like Yahya's COTN Custom World Map missing from some players in his scenario that caused their game to crash when they clicked on the WM.
Dalan's save didn't crash, but I just looked around & clicked on a few things. I don't know what would happen if I played it longer. I also don't have the custom roads. Most of this is graphics stuff.

Wow Dalan... you have probably exceeded programming limits for savings?
Or is your denarii over 2,500,000?
Still... holy cow!

@dalan
have a look at this little piece of code out of the dalminium.cs:
game.GetCityFunds(out Summe1);
if ((Summe1 < -2500))
{
game.OpenTradeRoute(14);
}
If you lend more then 2500 Denarii, these lines open the trade route 14, so this (invisible town) is active. And if this town is active, the condition <Defeat> is fullfilled. Game over. :D
In other words: Maximum credit in this game : 2500 Denarii. And that's a little problem for players in the launch period/inital phase.

Yes, in approximately 6 weeks. We receive up to now 1232 saves, it's a lot of work. The third map is running (right word?), the last came up in September.

Thank you. Another question about unemployed people? You gave an example of a valuation with 6 unemployed. You can build buildings so you should always have a need for people(unemployment = 0). Or does it mean that you want to have all buildings fully staffed and no unemployment?
Also on happiness just no red faces or do you want green faces? In my save they were all content (not green)?
Will you post the third map?

1232 saves! That is just absolutely incredible. Silk Purse had 92 and that was a lot of work to check those. 1232- you'd need a small army to pick a winner out of those.
