View Full Version : Award goal - 'using this much of a value'

Does anyone know how this works?
The game says something like "you must be using 85 of any of these (listed) values."

So I look at how much, say, spirituality I'm producing - ie, 156 - and then at how much 'surplus' I have - ie, 44. To me that sounds like I'm using 112 Spirituality ... but the Award doesn't check off.

Obviously, then, I don't know what this means/how it's calculated. Help?

Might need a screen shot of that, as you are calculating it correctly.

However, the check box should only appear next to that one pre-requisite and all are required to get the achievement.

LadyCrimson, are you trying to get the Sheriff's Trophy?

The Achievements Button on the interface only shows Trophies (Image 1) & not the additional Medals we can earn (Image 2).

You can see image 2 by going to the game save screen (but not saving) & then return to the game by "X" (back) at the bottom of the screen. I have the mouse-over on the Bronze Spirituality Medal.

I have moused over the possibilities you might be talking about. Perhaps you have too many people?

I think I'm having a similar problem getting the Sheriff trophy.Ive had plenty of other notices that I'd gotten the medals, but have never gotten a trophy. What should I do next please?

JuliaSet, you don't deserve the Sheriff's Trophy yet.

1) <2,900 Sims ~ Goal met

2) uses 85 of any Societal Value ~ Goal not met

3) uses 22 Spirituality ~ Produce 41, have available 19 ~ used 41-19=22 ~ Goal Met

You need #2

My bad ... my math was off for the scenario I was playing. Worked fine. :o

I was laggy last night and also didnt take enough pictures of the map window at the same time as the awards panel. I have 87 knowledge in the city so am wondering what else I need? an overage of Knowledge?

Please read the awards panel data. I think I got it... or I just get confused with the math.
How do I read it please?

Julia, you are producing 87 Knowledge, but have a surplus (aren't using/is available for use) 80 Knowledge. Thus, you're only using 7 of your total of 87 available.

In effect, you want to subtract the upper (green) number from the lower number to find out how much you're 'using'.

What if it was a red unmber? THis is confusing for me. Maybe getting this straight will help me explain to others?

You can hold the mouse over the number to get a tooltip explaining what the number represents.

The top number is the surplus(green)/deficit(red) of that energy in your city.
The bottom number is the total amount of that energy produced in your city.

So the amount consumed would be the bottom number minus the top number if you have surplus; otherwise it's the bottom number since you're using all of the production.

Thanks Alex!

All of this is quite confusing. Getting those goals is not quick and easy. I was lucky to find the buildings that made the 85, but now I have to figure what to do to make the top number go to zero. Any tips? More population maybe?

JuliaSet, click on only the Societal Value you want to use up in the build button area. At the top of the new building gallery is a +/- button that sorts for produced/consumed. You want the "-" for consumed. Click it multiple times & it sorts in high-to-low consumption to low-to-high consumption.

Place buildings that have high consumed for that Societal Value to do it quickly, or many buildings that have low consumed numbers. Then balance out the other Societal Values or add workers (Homes) if it is a Workplace, etc. You don't want any red negative numbers on the top row of the Societal Values display at the bottom of the interface, or some buildings will not work.

You also want to keep the Workers (Homes) number & Needed workers number (Worksplaces) pretty much the same for efficiency, but I'm not sure about this part yet. I read a ingame tip that workers keep their jobs forever unless fired & this means that distance is VERY important when placing Homes & Workplaces. We are all still learning the ropes. ;)

Most of the Trophies are VERY difficult to get.

Good Luck! :)

I think this game is trickier than it first seems. You still can build a city, but winning the goals is lots of work. I keep wanting to "fix" that issue and win the sheriff's award, It might mean I have to add more population to get it. That will be tricky.
