Hi all,
I seem to be having a problem with installing the game. When I put the disc into the dvd drive I get the screen that asks English or Spanish and I click English then on to the next screen where you click install. But when I do my disc spins then the computer restarts. Anyone with any thoughts on this please reply. I have all the minimum specs so it's not that. And I tried with my virus scan off so it's not that. If you need a DXdiag just let me know and I'll get it right up. Thanks in advance.

Try disabling your virus scan before installing.

You can also try installing from the Windows Safe Mode.

Hello,
Ok well I've got my DxDiag here so hopefully you can figure something out with it. Keith yes I did try while the virus scan was disabled. Although I have not tried in safe mode. I will try that right after this. Mouse I sooo hope you find something that is fixable, I really don't need a $42 coaster. Thanks again.

First you can turn off restart on error to see if you get an error message. To turn off restart on error go to control panel-system-advanced-system startup/system failure-settings then uncheck restart on error. That will give us some idea of what is going on. Two immediate suspects come to mind 1. your dvd/cd drive which is built by branded LG but might be built by a company who has problems with secu-rom 2. the video drivers might be too new for your card to work properly with the game.

Ok I'm back from safe mode,
Whew! What a ride. I was able to go further in safe mode but not all the way. I was now able to put in my code and then when I click next it tells me "The system administrator has set policies to prevent this installation". Huh? I am the system administrator. I have set nothing like that. As far as the drivers I could try to roll them back I guess. But what about the drive. It's a lite-on ldw-411s, if that helps. Would I be able to do anything about that? If not, I do work for Best Buy so I could get a newer one pretty cheap with my discount. What are your thoughts on all this Mouse? Thanks again for all your time and patience. Sorry I'm going to edit in here because I tried what you said after I posted. I go to Control Panel-then-system-then-advanced-then....I have no system startup/system failure to choose. I have Windows XP Professional so maybe it's different.

Hi,
Ok so after much trial and error(mostly error) it dawned on me. Right in front of me triple bagged was the computer I bought for my mother for christmas! The machine is new so the dvd drive had to be newer. I popped off her side panel and mine and piggybacked her dvd into my machine. It installed with no problem. The only problem is is that I'm bringing her present to her house tomorrow:o . I guess I really need to upgrade my dvd player. One question though, if I now put the disc into my machine with the game installed will it still restart my computer? Probably so. Anyway thanks for all the support it was much appreciated.

It's not the age of dvd drive but rather just a few companies make drives sold under a number of names. Some of those drives have a problem with secu-rom you can contact Sony who owns secu-rom they gave out patches that fixed the problem;)

Hello again,
Ok now I have a new problem. I used my mothers machine to install and was able to play the tutorial up to the point of placing roads when the game froze. I had to restart my computer and now when I try to play the game it asks me to insert the original dvd. I hit retry over and over and it just won't start. Is there a work around for this? My mothers machine is going away today so it'll be back to my other dvd drive. You mentioned a patch from sony? Where, how, and will it work with my older drive? Any thoughts? Thanks a bunch.

You will need to contact secu-rom they issued the patch to some people that resolved problems with cd/dvd drives and the copy protection. You're getting the orginial cd error because the copy protection can't be verified.

Hi again,
So I googled secu-rom and checked out what they had to say and they said first to turn DLA off. So I did and the game started right up, no missing dvd alert. I was then able to play for about 10-15 minutes before the freeze up. I only tried the game once so I'm not 100% sure that was the fix but at least I was able to play a bit more. Now I need this freezing to quit.

There should be a patch soon to solve that. Everyone is suffering the same thing.
