Simcity societies patching problems

hi all
first of all merry christmas to you all.
newbie on this forum and already got a lot of trouble with the new simcity game
first of all must i say that i havent got any trouble installing the game and running it either.
but:rolleyes:
i cannot update the darn thing:(
i downloaded this file SCS_10016_DP1 started the update and this is what i get (see attached file) the update screen just stays that way,no activity on the progress bar,a lot of disc access but no updating the simcitysocieties.exe file remains at version 1.0.0.6

i am running vista home premium on a new pc,i can install and update on my old xp sp2 machine without problems
i just don't get it..... i mean microsoft c++ 2005 redist installed and working and got .net framework working too..
oh and btw this file SCS_10138B_H should be update 2,same result for me as the 1 update.
tried to reinstall another location (default ea games prefered) not working
installed in another folder,read something about the TM (trademark) in the folder name should be a problem for vista,but seems to be a hoax.
tried to run the patches with compability settings and admin rights,not working
not using any nodvd or anything,coz i got the original game for christmas for gods sake:o sorry,just getting pretty sad about this
anyone got a clue,please let me know

Same issue here... :(
Vista 32 bits all up to date. i launch the update, the progressbar appear and nothing... after 2-3 minutes ( and a lot of disk access ), the update closed and my game still at 1.0.0.6...
please help...

have you tried moving the window to see if there is a pop-up behind? i've had problems with pop-ups not popping all the way up with other installs, and it can take forever to figure it out, because one has a tendency to end unresponsive tasks rather than minimizing them.

meh, it's worth a try.

no no, it's like the screenshot post by Lunde... no popup, the progressbar still empty and after 2-3 minutes, it close.
I've look the exe file and it's still to 1.0.0.6 version... :(

Mine is Desktop Core2DuoE6850 3Ghz + 4 Go DDR 800 Mhz + 8800 GTS 640 Mo with Vista 64 bits Home Premium up to date...

And yours ?

Mine:
Desktop
Core2Duo E6600 2.4Ghz, 3Go DDR2, 8800GT 512Mo Vista 32bits and all up to date.
It's the first patcher who made this...:( it seems it don't find the game, but no message, it closed that's all...
All the latests games plays fine on my machine, patching without problems...
Please, if a developer can take a look at this ... ( and i'm not alone in that case )

I wonder if either of you are running Vista's UAC... (User Account Control)... it changes the way data is saved to the Hard Drive, so it may very well be it doesn't see anything to update, because UAC won't let it... An example being that with UAC Off, the data for SCS is stored in a different place than with it on, and I'm not sure if the Patcher makes the differentiation....

Yes, UAC is on ( i will test it with this off ), but if i want to let it on ( it's a choice ), i can't patch my game...:confused::confused: the patcher need a little patch ( or update ) :D

Try right clicking the patch app. and then choose to Run as Admin. That should give it the one time access with elevated privileges token it may need to properly install under Vista's UAC.

I've already done a similar thing ( i've put 'run as administrator' in the security panel of the shortcut ), and same shi....thing..:(

Uac on or off dosent make any difference here,only difference is that on my gfriends pc running xp home sp2 i can patch and patch over and over again,o works 100 percent,i even tried to patch in safemode - no luck.

arf, now the game stutter a lot.. it seems that when i zoom, the textures are loaded in streaming... it's sloooowwwww....
i'm boring, i uninstall it...:mad:

wow the latest patch (4) fixed all my present sim problems. patching the game went without any problems and the game is smooth in terms of speed and looks.
finally i can play it,:p
