Hello people. Forgive me if this has been asked already, i'm new here.

Can the special sims in this game be modded too?

I wouldn't mind having unlockable buildings that spawn super crime fighters. Maybe something like a Flash ( speeds around the city and snatches up criminals and take them to jail much faster then the cops). Or a super car like the batmoble where there is 2 or 3 crime fighters that beat the crap out of criminals with more efficiency then the police. haha, a guy that spins webs on thugs and leaves them for cops to take them to jail. maybe these these Super sims can only be summon when the meter is full and the city is plague with crime. do you think the idea will fly ;)

Gangs shouldn't be hard either since some buildings already spawn criminals. maybe one building type that produces thugs can fight with other building types that produces thugs. the conflict between the sets can cause riots prompting you to summon your super sims. super villians would be cool too.

This game has so much potential, to me it just seems to be custom made just for modding. wish i had those type of skillz.. anyway, just some thoughts i had.

Oh, what type of studies do i need in order to make mods? C++ or something else....

The city I'm building at the moment is corrupt (Syndicate) and a super-hero might disrupt my shakedowns of random sims. I actually collect a piece of the action every time a crime is committed in the city.

Vigilantes already spawn to attack criminals (and the occasional innocent bystander).

Mad scientists also spawn, but I haven't seen one yet.

I think it might be possible. But you'd have to know how to script the buildings abilities. You can spawn SWAT team members from a Police Station so I'd imagine that it'd be possible to do something similar if you wanted to spawn super heroes.

Pretty much everything you have asked for in this mod is possible. Here are some quick references to what you can mod in regards to this:

1) You can edit the texture of any Sim / Special Sim / Vehicle / Building in the game. You'll need to understand how to manipulate the XMLs (very simple to do, just requires some experimenting) along with having crazy photoshop skills.
2) You can create your own Sim classes. That is, you can make an entirely new Superhero or villain class that consists of whatever new Sims you like. You can then attach these spawns to buildings to either have them spawn on a percentage chance, or whenever the player selects a building action. This only requires some XML tweaking. If you want to take it a bit further, you can dive into the scripts and have the spawning of the Sims a bit more flexible (for example, if you hit so many crimes, one spawns).
3) Changing the speed and behavior of a Sim (such as making the Flash) is possible through both the XMLs and scripting. Certain factors, such as speed, are controlled in the XMLs while more advanced behaviors are located in the scripts.
4) As a little added touch, you can edit / create your own particles to and attach them to any Sim. For example, you can attach the fire particle to a Sim's head and get a Ghost Rider thing going on. This only requires XML work and if you'd like to know some more information on how to do this, I'd be glad to assist.

For scripting you will have to understand how to work with C++/C#, but for the most part you can reference the code in other Special Sims and copy them over into your very own, customized Sim.

"tpra21" has a mod on sc:s official site that has buildings that spawn Gambino Crime Family characters. This sounds very similiar to what you are asking about. Here is a link to his mod.

Thanks Mike Lattiak and the others for your opinions and advice.

I'm going to the book store later to pick up a few books on the matter. I've seen one book intitled Scripting for Dummies (thats me) and a few other C++ books too.

I'll see what i can do but i would rather someone with more experience to give it a shot. I just want to play it.. btw, i can hardly wait for that new patch with the additions of alien invasions.

Hey Pathfinder, i saw that mod and will try it out today. it sounds like a fun mod. man i like this game.

I just can’t get this Super hero thing out of my mind. I don’t care if someone else uses the idea and make it happen I don’t have the time and skill at the moment to achieve this. I know someone with the skill can do this. I believe there are others who have some type of interest in this too, I think it can work.

To be more descriptive this is what I have in mind…

When super heroes arrive all criminals try to flee. The fighting sequence shown when the Sims is fighting each other should have the super hero winning with ease (unless fighting super villains). Do you want a city filled with super villains? Examples:

A Sim is seen around the city destroying buildings with fire and earthquakes (picture the Sim shooting streams of fire at buildings or walking up to them, touching them and making them crumble to the ground. Hint: fire truck water spray modified into fire and the explosions that’s used when bull dozing something. Hmm…it could work. I think

A strong Sim is seen walking around town knocking people out with one punch and robbing them ( walks around other Sims swinging fists and they fall instantly, no fighting sequence, later victim Sims wakes up with the red sad face )

Smart and Roofless king pin Sim ( walks into Banks and other big money making building and steals money from your treasury, enough to make you want this dude……..really really bad.) Only a super hero can catch this guy. He’s to smart for the cops and his expensive car is too fast. Lol
Catch him before he reaches the city limits or say good bye to that lump of cash.

2 female Sims suddenly appearing around the city shutting down buildings. (one looks like the Joker from Batman the other is wearing a cat suit) lol.

A Super Zombie that appears only at night. (shuts down venues and changes Sims into ghost for 24 hours)

A Robot that floats into the air (like the balloon float attraction) the robot unleashes a ray that makes the Sims sick.

So many possibilities…

When Super heroes are around some people should cheer and take pictures (like the celebrity treatment already in the game) a few Sims might turn into hippies should be a Con. When Super villains are around people run away (like they do when they see zombies).

There should also be some type of super hero/villain stat and trophy too. Something that will give the features more meaning, this feature probably should be unlocked when you have a Hugh city. I would love to see this or something similar in a patch.
Any thoughts?

A Super pack mod or Patch is definitely needed for this game. I’ll pay someone to do this if I must.

Super super heroes and villains when your city reaches it’s maximum capacity.

2 male super vigilante thugs. One Sim can mimic any Sim the other one jumps thru time. ;-) They are known for robbing banks but occasionally will fight gangs and thugs for practice and celebrity attention. (Unlock when population capacity is at max) when robbing banks a money bag icon will pop up above the criminal with the loot. If criminals get back to safe house …the money is gone and these 2 guys won’t be seen for a while. If your city is made for crime then you will appreciate these guys work.

The super hero’s hero…
A female Sim that magically appears, waves her hands in front of her and freezes all criminal Sims, they disappear and magically end up in jail. Lol

Mad Scientist disguised as a tourist (flashes camera on Sims and they become injured and ill, Police included).

A sim dressed up in a rat suit going around the city and streets making it dirty and barely livable. Sims will not walk down the streets this Sim has been on. The buildings he goes into will soon need maintenance and the Sims instantly become sick.

A female Sim that steals power from buildings (temporarily shuts power off buildings) she also shoots beams of electricity at any Sim that gets too close to her. Beams not only injure Sims but make them sad and frozen in place for a few hours..

GTA Sim (goes around stealing ppls goods) reckless driver ( ppl scatter when he drives by ) This Sim makes the accidental death rate increase). Probably the worse of them all…

A Sim that flies and crawls on buildings can be used to increase population. His celebrity status increases the happiness and tourism astronomically. All Sims in his vicinity become immune to illnesses and any criminal in the vicinity will instantly run out of town…with the quickness. He is rarely seen because this is the only Sim that will cost the city money when he is used; I think it’ll be worth it.

Aliens spawning from the alien research lab sounds cool to me too. They can cause havoc in various ways.

I’m feeling that Ghost Rider thing. But I see it mixing in with the hunting building set more. Something more creepy, you know. A Sim that appears at night turning Sims into rouges and zombies. Either way it don’t matter to me

This game needs a Super Heroes and Villains building set. I want hideouts or some type of structures for spawning these Special Sims... it can only make the games value increase. You don’t have to use the buildings if you don’t want but I think they will bring a different and fun element to the game play…. don’t you think?

Maybe a female sim who shuts down buildings that harm the environmen and robs, or fights men. They don't loose to much happiness though. She may also increase the attractiveness of parks. They might grow IVY and other wild vegitation. Don't forget that only superheroes (esp nocternal) can stop her. She might also shut down non-polluting buildings that can mes up the environment in other ways (nuclear power plants, fertilizer plants, mechanized farms, fertilizer plants, state cafeterias, fertilizer plants). She might be spawned by a (modern) ferilizer plant or a genetically altered organics factory.

or maybe an ambiguous villain that robs museums but also sometimes does what is right and fights crime... has a thing for cats
and also has a thing for nocturnal superheros.

the use of these buildings and features should be optional for those that are not into the super stuff. Personally I think it will be a blast

imagine having a Hall of Justice where different types of SuperSims can spawn from... you just pick which one you want to use.

For Super Villians there should be hideouts or something similar.
to be honest i don't care how it's done ( maybe a little) I just want to use them in my cities. Are there any mods out there interested?

I'm wondering if you can have alien invasions. i know there is a patch on the way but i don't think the alien sims invade the streets, I think it's space ships fly around causeing fires. There should be abductions too (the city's population is decreased), some sims can fight them off but it's the super heros that come to save the day. =)

I read some of the threads involving modding and they are interesting indeed. I'm sadden because i do not have the knowledge and time to make mods and I'm confused on why others do not want this as an option in the game. yeh, I'm a big kid..... at heart

This game reminds me of a vertual toy chest. It reminds me of when i was a kid playing with lego, Hotwheels/Matchbox cars and cities, toy army men and other action figures. If only you can see the bigger picture.
from the amount of views i can see theres some type of interest, Do you think it will be a waste? Will it increase the gameplay?

More familiar/characters that can be used in this game.

Spawn- a shadow looking character that is made from the hunted tile set. A vigilante Sim that can pop out of any shadow of the city. He is mainly spotted at night. (picture the famous Sims sequence when the Sim throws a small black hole on the ground and jump in and disappear ….Well the spawn shadow character throws these small black holes and rids the city of zombies and ghost).

Nightcrawler-A Sim that scares the Sims so bad they run all the way home.

Boogie Man- Sims are afraid to go home when this sim is in building. Thay all run out or just wait until he leaves the premises.

Puppet Master- A Sim that mind controls other Sims by making them go rouge, turn thug, criminal, hoodlum, thief, etc…

A Sim that turns adults into kids for 2 days

A Sim that goes around the city making random buildings disappear…..

on and on and on…

a super natural expansion pack sounds good to me. why not? the Sims is already known for all types of expansions packs.

i sure wish i knew how to mod games. i'm wondering how much someone would charge me for this mod. too bad not many ppl can see the bigger picture. but yeah, i'm putting the money on the table...

Zodiac killer: attacks Sims with the same sign ( all sims should now have a zodiac sign)

Serial killer: only attacks Sims that work in the same proffessions.

uh, that is not how serial killers work in the real world, AFAIK they don't neccesarily target by profession unless it's prostitution or something. I'm not an expert on this but I've watched documentaries and other stuff.

It's a concept though, but not sure how we would be able to make a mod that 'kills' a sim through some special sim.

Maybe the zodiac/serial killer can strike these victim sims (with similar zodiac/professions) at a certain time of the day, an icon will pop up on the mini map and make an obvious time and path pattern on the mini map, Therefore you can have your cops/superhero waiting before the next strike. But be quick before he gets to the nearest subway and disappears. :)If the character is caught the city receives a reward(statue),increased popularity and money of coarse. Lol, idk. It just sounds like it can be possible.

i just think this game can go deeper as far as dealing with the sims/societies.
