Hi all. I recently upgraded from XP Home to Vista 32bit home premium. It's been fun mostly but I've come down with a problem in Simcity societies.

What happens is I'll be playing along and the game freezes. I'm currently in the middle of a large city and the game sort of freezes a little anyway if I move to fast or open a building card. Also there's sometimes a little chug every time I earn some money. Eventually the game freezes hard and I have to manually restart the computer.

At first I thought this might be related to the autosave, but I disabled it and it still happened.

Now I'm thinking this might be related to a sound issue since my DxDiag has a bit of an error about the sound driver. So I'm attaching to see if you folks can make sense of it.

Quick vitals: AMD Athlon 3000+, 2gb RAM, 2 big hard drives, nVidia 6800gt, Soundblaster Audigy 4. It's an aging beast but I love it.

I`d say:

your AMD with ~2.0GHz is a bit "short" of power

did you make sure to install directX 9 as well?

Are you sure that you installed VISTA-nvidia-driver when you changed system? (driver date is 2006!!!)

Same question for the Creative SB Audigy 4

In case you have the Microphone activ.............try it without
