This is Hatshepsyt, Grad. Not Pretty, but you got your pyramid a bit after win. It was NOT easy. I finally found places for barge landings, but after fine started to pile up, they hauled the loooong way around anyway. :p

Don't ask about the 36 prestige on my win screen. :D

Tinkerbell; I did not expect any one to use the fine limestone, I was useing it as my part of my "planter". As much as I love to build pyramids, I still kept down my urge to build one. Thank you for yours. :D:D

Not quite the same on this one (2nd). Had a vagrant problem and wasted some time, but finally got it. :)
Since there's no posts, I'll add the third on also. Think I like it better with trees. :)
Found the in on the maze but can't find the out. I don't have to play this forever do I?:)

That was enjoyable :) Thanks for the lovely campaign, and all the other scenarios you've created. I've always loved the monkeys, and your maps are lovely. Very nice use of triggers, reveals and messages to create the appropriate atmosphere.

Can you imagine being a lowly worker in 1355ish BC, worshiping as usual..as had been for centuries, during one of the most prosperous times. Happily going about your business. Then your Pharaoh dies. You mourn, but all is as it should be. THEN SUDDENLY the new Pharaoh..the God on Earth...tears your world apart. Only one god? AAAAAAAAaa. Moving to the capital out into the desert? Bast is not REALLY true? Anubis no longer escorts us into the underworld? ...

and then, just a few years later the priests tell you that Akhenaten was...well, how WOULD they tell the people? Was Akhenaten NOT the true son of Amenhotep? Perhaps he was sent to test the faithful? sheesh. and now Back to normal. The gods are here. They will comfort you. We must rebuild.....

I don't tend to save games, and autosave I have set at only 12, so I don't have an endgame to show off from but one of the scenarios (Akhenaten). My cities aren't pretty like so many of the ones I see on the forums :( They're...utilitarian! I like to make the Palace and mastaba areas nice...but often I find myself in a pickle with the palace....<sigh>...I tend to put it fairly near the main stuff (farmers/merchants/nobles) and by the time I start putting up obelisks, etc., I have no room.

ah well.

here's a pic of Akhenaten's city (kind of a challenge there....I didn't want to use ANY gods except maybe Amun..so there are a lot of Pharaoh around). One of the city and one of the burial complex.

I'm replaying the campaign (oh no...oh no....not THAT!) so I can save a couple of other cities. almost finished with Tutankhamun.

:)I'm glad you like the city and tiles. I made the tiles using photoshop C3. They're based on tomb paintings..a fishscale, a simple repeating pattern of rectangles, and the lotus motif. I also glammed up the sphinxes a bit with more color (I like a lot of intense color).

I could put up the dds files if there is a place in particular that mods go? I've found a couple of threads about mods, and obviously I'm using those lovely red temples and golden palace, but I'm not sure where to post these?

ETA: okay. Now that we all know I'm an idiot...I'll go post the files in the editing thread. sheesh. can't believe I missed that.

WOW! That bit of writing by AnnT makes me want to write a story of people living under Akhenaten.

I'm stuck. I can't get my laborers to mine granite. I have replayed this three times and everytime the same problem. This time I have two overseers and 20 laborers -- the overseers are mining obelisks and stele and the laborers are staying in their huts shaking. If I tell the overseers to mine limestone all of the laborers go merrily marching off to the mines. Don't undertand -- can someone take a look?

sakasiru
10-05-2008, 02:55 AM
I didnīt check the save yet, but do you have a need for granite somewhere? Unlike limestone, granite is only quarried if you have a construction or a trade site open which wants a certain type of granite (small/ big steles, small/ big obelisks). Laborers will only quarry until this demand is satisfied. So if you want to build an obelisk, you have to build the brick base first, and when itīs ready, the laborers should go and quarry.

Tinkerbell

Howdy, clayson4908!

Thank you for your save. It is the final missing piece of evidence for me. I cannot load it, but the scenario was created on old COTN v1.2. Apparently you have Alexandia XPac installed & I do not.

The only suggestion I have is the same as what sakasiru posted.

Thanks -- I had not realized that about granite, I assume that the same is true for basalt. Picky laborers -- they always want food and goods, but only work when they have too -- gee, they are just like me.

Tinkerbell
10-05-2008, 10:23 AM
Basalt is a bit different. You can get 4 small basalt statue blanks quarried w/o a trigger.

Large basalt & all granite requires a trigger before it will be quarried.

A trigger is fired by placing the base & having it built outta bricks, dedicating a temple/cult temple, or having/opening a World Map site that requires them.

One trigger equals one quarried item of the proper size.

A World Map site that requires ten will fire ten triggers.

The only way to build up a supply of these is to import.

clayson4908, it looks like you still need to open Pylon 3 in the Mortuary Complex. It shows as the Pyramid site in brown upper left on your World Map image. After that, it looks like two more temple sites will appear. When those three World Map sites are open, then your World Map will be complete for the Win Screen.

Well, I don't have Alexandria, so I can't help you both. Have you tried making sure the World Map sites for victory all open (not suspended) at the same time?

That would be everything associated with the Mortuary complex (9 sites), along with Heliopolis, Avaris & Punt? You don't have to upkeep, just open everything & return to you city. If this works, the Win Screen should follow quickly.

Worth a shot! ;)

You sure, clayson4908? I just finished replaying the Scenario, but I am only on v1.3.1.xx or whatever it is. You also need the big Mortuary city itself open & unsuspended. This means no lack of upkeep cities either.

I could not get the Win Screen until all were open & unsuspended. I had closed down Punt.

Damn, I wish I could download your save. It would be terrible if the reason was the Alexandria XPac.

I had the same problem on Vista: while it worked fine if I copied scenarios files in \my documents\...\tilted mill\...\scenario folder, it did not work with \my documents\...\tilted mill\...\campaigns; I solved the problem copying the campaign files in the \program files\...\tilted mill\...\campaigns folder.

they did the Vista compatibility thing of moving everything to "My Documents," but accidentally left out campaigns when doing so - so you have to "un compatible" the campaign handling by putting custom campaigns in the pre-1.3 campaigns folder :)

Clayson4908; I found the problem to your game, It had nothing to do with the Alexandria campaign. You did not keep the upkeep with Avaris and Heliopolis, I played you save and Avaris had to be reopened because of lack of upkeep. My problem was operator error too...

I just couldn't/didn't see one of the pylons to open it [see screenshot] because it blends so well into the frame of the map :o

When I read here that there wasn't anything wrong with the campaign - I tried again - and for some reason this time I spotted the third pylon [I had noticed that I couldn't see number three but for some reason I thought I could see it behind the monument and couldn't click on it...:o]

I managed to get the win screen in hardly any time at all compared to the other two times when I had severe operator malfunctions :o:D

Thank you for playing the game, you must spend hours planning your cities. I hope you got the donkey out of your wall.:D Can hardly wait to see what you do with the next one.

Thank you for the great scenarios -- I really enjoy them. The have great maps for building interesting cities and enough to do on the World Map to keep you busy. I wouldn't say I spend hours planning my cities but I do spend a lot of time restarting and rebuilding. Over time I have evolved some consistent layouts for the farming and government business, and the noble neighborhoods. I am most fascinated with the public, ritual spaces and in the propogranda of power. I would love to have a game that used the architecture of the ancient Maya for my cities -- their cities were all about the rituals spaces and the propoganda of power.

Thanks to Tinkerbell, I got the donkey out of the wall. By the way, have I mentioned I HATE DONKEYS

Keep the scenarios coming --

:o:o

My problem was operator error too...

I just couldn't/didn't see one of the pylons to open it [see screenshot] because it blends so well into the frame of the map :o

When I read here that there wasn't anything wrong with the campaign - I tried again - and for some reason this time I spotted the third pylon [I had noticed that I couldn't see number three but for some reason I thought I could see it behind the monument and couldn't click on it...:o]

I managed to get the win screen in hardly any time at all compared to the other two times when I had severe operator malfunctions :o:D

lynnk -- I had the same problem -- I thought it was part of the papyrus and I really get the part about operator malfunctions

THANK YOU:D

thegrad,

I loved this one. This was the best time I have had playing COTN. :D the map was awesome -- I had a great time building the city -- it only took 68 years to complete all of the statues and I probably could have got a win screen sooner but I got lost in designing and building the city. I noticed the wall structure in another city -- Paluska thanks for the idea -- and thought I would give it a try, probably got a little carried away. Loved the maze, I only wish that there had been space for one or two small pryamids.

Overall grad, I hope you like this one -- I truly had a great time with this one and spent almost 3 days of play time on it.

I hope no one minds, but I got carried away with the snapshots -- I just couldn't get everything in that I wanted to show you.

I am really looking forward to your next map -- you keep designing them and I'll keep playing them.

Clayson4908; The word AWESOME, does not do justice to your cities. Thank you for playing, I really enjoy seeing what you can do to with your cities. Can't wait to see what you do with the rest of my games. Thanks again for all your hard work.

So Grad, this is compatable with Alex.? You can build the lighthouse, library, etc. and it won't foul up all your game? Or maybe building all that stuff isn't really needed in your campaign design. I was just wondering because it would be a little bit of a bummer if you plunked down the lighthouse and all your peasants migrated or something unforeseen like that lol.

Trayon5; The fact that you have Alexandria installed will not keep you from winning the game, but you can NOT build the Great Works, as it is grayed out. I do hope to see your win screen. :D
