I had never heard of this site. (http://news.bigdownload.com/2008/08/06/big-download-interview-tilted-mills-chris-beatrice-on-hinterla/)

An interview with Chris with more details here and there. Nothing earth shattering except there are more TM games in the pipeline to be released soon!!!!

Hmm... let's see... we have three or four titles in the works, all coming out pretty soon. We'll be releasing more information about them in the coming weeks. One is related to Children, the other is going to explore some innovative game mechanics not in an RPG, city building, but still in a historic game...

Nice. The fact that Chris continually mentions innovation and variety in various interviews is great to hear. I certainly have been longing for that, but assumed I was in the minority as companies continue to push out the same, tired gameplay mechanics. Looking forward to the PC gaming future with Tilted Mill around. I may not bite the 360/PS3 bullet after all.

I agree about innovation being one of the oft neglected aspects of gaming as of late. I mean, think about it, to this day they are still largely working BACKWARDS from Roguelikes in terms of depth, replayability, allowance for individual styles, etc. Millions of dollars to regress from notions rigged up in the 70's? Baffling.

Though, just for the sake of arguement, I COULD see something along the kinda lines of Hinterland in spirit coming out on the Wii---some would argue it did to a degree in the WiiWare only released of Final Fantasy: My Life as a King.

RPG, FPS, and RTS genres have become largely stagnant. It seemed like before that similarities could be found between games from the same developers, but the genres were much broader in the material that was released. There are exceptions, but I am hesitant to try any new games. Much of the time the screenshots seem to look eerily familiar and similar to a game in the same genre from 6 months prior. I realize many of today's games have different feature lists, but they are only incremental differences and not that much difference in the actual gameplay.

So, um, yay you guys, or something.
