Will Hinterland be able to run on one of the newer Eee PCs? Min requirements seem just a tad higher than the Eee provides. The game looks cool, and I'd like to play it on the go.
Thanks

I suggest you upgrade to at least a Bee PC, if not an Aaa or an AaaPlus.
I'd guess the only way to really know for sure would be to try it - even if you're under the minimum specs you might be able to play at a near optimal rate; and if you can't run it on an Eee you can at least run it elsewhere.

I'm not really familliar with the Eee PC specs, but what games are you able to run on it at the moment? That might be a better indicator.

I googled this and found these specs:
Internal memory: 20 GB solid state disk
RAM: 1 GB DDR2
Processor: 1.6 GHz Intel Atom
Memory expansion: Slot for MMC/SD(SDHC) cards
Operating system: Linux (But can include Windows XP as well)
LCD: 8.9 inches, 1024 x 600 pixels
Networking: Tri-mode Wi-Fi (802.11b/g/n), 10/100 Fast Ethernet
Peripheral connectivity: Three USB 2.0
External video: One VGA
External audio: One headphone and one microphone port
Webcamera: Yes, 1.3 megapixels
Battery: 6 cells, up to 6 hours
Weight: 2.42 pounds (38 ounces)
Dimensions: 8.9 x 6.9 x 1.5 inches
It's a very small notepad computer so it's safe to say no. The developers are not making Hinterland for notepad computers.

Well I suppose I can wait for the dual core Eee Pcs to come out, probably Q1 2009. I don't actually own any Eee pc right now :) but I need a laptop for work and have been ogling one.

The problem isn't really the processor. The problem is the video card and possibly the notepad mobo. From the looks of things the Eee pads are not meant to consume any real amount of power, which most 3d video cards require, suggesting that Eee pads don't come with any real 3d video card. Any card that the Eee PC may actually have will likely not be supported by this game. I don't recommend going with notepad computers to play 3d pc games anyway. Notepads come with proprietary hardware which is not usually designed for 3d gaming nor do game developers normally support such hardware.
Overall, you're gambling because if the game doesn't work on any of the notepads you buy, sorry, but don't expect tech support to help you. Most of the time laptop and notepad computer users are on their own when they try to get a 3d game to work for them.

Dwarf Fortress (http://dwarf.lendemaindeveille.com/index.php/Main_Page) has very basic graphics, you may want to settle for that.

Dwarf Fortress actually requires some pretty intense CPU work and a good amount of RAM.

May you can try for old 2D games. Majesty, lots of oldies with DOSBOX? Stronghold ect. Hinterland, while it would indeed be awesome to play on the go, might be a bit much for the poor little thing.
Maybe they'll announce a DS version next ;)

No really it does:
Asus Eee PC 4G - 512 Ram - Windows XP(custom optimized) - DF v0.27.176.38c:
Smallest map possible with the smallest site, flatland only 1z above ground, 15z underground, volcano, some lakes, no underground water, 3 monsters, 9 creatures and 7 dwarfs. Speed boosting edits in init.txt. 10FPS on fullscreen mode and 20 on window mode. Some keys arenīt easy to press on that small keyboard, mainly when you have to press fn+shift+key. Conclusion: Play it on a desktop or a better EEE PC. :-(

While it looks very ehm basic ;) it keeps track of SO many tiny things.

Wasn't directed towards you, nor anyone else for that matter. ;)
No worries.
