After playing this for a bit, I think the following changes, hopefully simple ones, would make things a little more interesting/add more strategy or depth to the game.

Spell Screens for Casters. It would be nice after they've been doing research if you could see what spells they know as opposed to another caster. It could help you choose who to take with you on your adventure
Larger town inventory - If you have a lot of crafters it could help to an increased inventory to hold their items as well as any special items you get that you haven't used anyway. Like dragons eggs, or the items wizards need to make towers
Item lists with choice for crafters. It would be nice if you could see all the items a crafter can make and if you could set their priority to make a certain one
Trainer building - If you don't take people adventuring with you right away you have to either wait for high level villagers to show up, or take low level people with you and risk getting them killed. It might be nice if there was a person you could hire who could train other villagers to be better fighters. As an example perhaps it could train all villagers 1 level per day up to the level of the worker in the building. If you want your villagers to be a higher level you need to take him out adventuring to raise his level.

As a wishlist I'd like to throw my weight behind:

Zoom - It can be a little tight on 1900x1220
Widescreen - this is extremely common nowadays. I was surprised when I found out this didn't support widescreen
auto-target acquisition after kill for your hero. If you want to run away you can still do so manually. Otherwise he should attack the nearest target.
Better AI for followers - if your follower has a bow he should try and back off if the enemy is heading for him.
An option to ask casters to cast buffs prior to a fight.
walls - funneling enemies through the guard towers only makes sense. The ability to pay for a wall upgrade that would just drop walls in a static square around the village with an entrance on each side would be nice.

1) You can view and choose which prayer/spell each follower can do by opening the individual follower card by clicking on the individual follower in the follower screen. granted you have to open each one separately to do this. A tool tip will open if you point to the prayer/spell name describing what it does.

2) there is a way to store more inventory than just what is in the lords inventory and the town inventory . I'll let you discover it on your own.;)

3) You can sometimes get them to change what they are making by toggling between research and make. it is a luck of the draw though. this is found in the individual follower card/window.

4)If raiders are on and you set the townie to defend the town he will gain experience. Just be sure to give him some real weapons and defence.

You can use shift to change your players mouse icon to an attack icon just hold down shift and move the mouse to your next target.
I like the rest of you wishes. :D

Thats if the raiders get to his place. It means the people you put at the back will never gain experience. This is a more uniform experience for all townies and can operate independentently of raider experience.

I also haven't seen the townies gaining any real experience off the raiders either. It seems like they'd have to repel 2 or 3 raider attacks just on their own to go up 1 level.

Since there is no other way to level low-level townies, something needs ot be in place to help you do that.

For leveling lower level townspeople...

Save some lower level lairs, bring along a healer, and let him solo most of the lair...ie hop in only if he aggros several mobs.
