View Full Version : How do I get to a City e.g. Berlin in Destinations

I've purchased Sim City in the Box, it comes with Regions and a couple of Cities.
How do I open these cities?, I can't get to them.
The normal tutorial in Sim City 4 also is not working, I can't find a manual anywhere, would have thought that with all these DVDs they'd include a manual on how to play these games.
We won't even mention the endless trouble of playing the game, lucky if it does not crash within the first 5 minutes.
Apart from that, I don't understand the numbers of people living in the town vs, numbers of homes and jobs. I have 5 000 people say, and 250 homes and 250 jobs, where are the 4 750 people - homeless? what gives with that? The capacity numbers one gets when placing a house read differently than what is displayed.
But this is a nice game, if only I could get to these towns, specially Berlin 'cause that's where I'm from.
I've filled a whole town just buildings, venues etc any which way, taxi, bus stops, subways and only a street around the board, was fun and gosh I had millions of money and earned all achievements, bar 3. Have most buildings/venues unveiled, too, am short of 6 buildings, will get those sometimes, too, I guess.
So does anybody know how I can open the cities? They are in the Sim City 4 Deluxe Game folder, under "Regions".
Thank you.

It sounds like you're confusing SimCity 4 (produced by EA) and SimCity Societies (produced by TM under EA's supervision).
SimCity 4 and SimCity Societies: Destinations are completely different games. I suppose that the "Berlin" you're referring to is actually a SimCity 4 Region file; there are no "regions" in SimCity Societies.
"Homes" refer to housing buildings; as for people not having "jobs," well, not "everyone" works, don't they? Unless of course you put your two year old to go work at a brewery or something... ;)

Hi
yes that's what I said : They are in the Sim City 4 Deluxe Game folder, under "Regions".
So I guess this is the wrong Forum? Is very difficult to find the correct forum, they all seem to be linking into each other, or perhaps there is none for SC 4. Nevertheless, perhaps someone here knows how to get to these Regions.
... and the question was I have 5 000 people say, and 250 homes and 250 jobs, where are the 4 750 people - homeless?
Of course I don't expect everybody to work, but would like them to have homes, it seems that only 250 people have homes?? I don't quite understand these numbers, and now I'm talking "Destinations". Nope won't let my 2 year old go to work, but perhaps my 45 year old should go and find a job :)
any help would be appreciated.

Yes, you got it, wrong forum, and perhaps a wrong site, as SimCity 4 is not a TiltedMill game. But I'm sure there are people here who know that game too.
Ah Rnett you were fast. :)

The first part of your question is referring to SimCity 4, which as Kiya mentioned, is not a Tilted Mill game, but was produced solely by Electronic Arts. You can change "regions" by the method that Rnett mentioned.
The second part of your question is referring to SimCity Societies, which was made by Tilted Mill under the supervision of EA (so this forum is the right place for questions related to SimCity Societies only). The number of "homes" actually refers to the number of residential buildings. Residential buildings have two population values associated with them - a "fake" population value and a worker value. The "fake" population is the total number of residents (as it appears on your city census) while the worker value represents the number of people who are a part of your city's workforce. :)

thank you everybody for their replies.
Seeing that these games came all in one box, it's all the same to this little old (65) lady. Sorry. I probably was on the right forum at one stage and clicked there to get here.
At least I understand now about the population, made no sense to me.
Rnett, when I go to my Regions Screen, there does not seem to be an option to find these cities, but perhaps I'm once again in the wrong game, I'm going to have another look, I'm totally useless with this. Perhaps I still need to move the files somewhere else, but I would think the installation placed them where they should go.
thanks again.

oh and I managed to get into Regions SC 4, thank you that worked actually.
Decided that Destinations is much more fun, if only the game wouldn't crash all the time, that is robbing my last bit of sanity. Is ever so boring to have to shut down these processes and of course I'm not really sure which ones can be safely ended. I guess I could shut down some more, but don't want to take the chance.
Right let me go back and see how my city develops. :)
