View Full Version : SUG - Consumption

I think it would make the game rather interesting if your population started to consume some products. ie. Lvl 6 Palace - People consume Pottery and Sandals. At higher level palaces people consume perfume and Jewelry as well. This would probably make the game tougher? But also create a more constant demand than just saving up 1500 jewelry to build a new city.

to tell the truth, I came into this game expecting that you would have to supply pottery, food, et al to you populace to attract citizens, or at least anyone above laborer.
Maybe we will see a little more depth once the basic systems are running, and all aspects of the program are playing well with each other. The changes in palace upgrade requirements may just be the start, with other changes waiting until the kinks in trading are worked out.

of course larger cities SHOULD consume SOME of the goods they produce lol
I also want the 'people' to feel more like people...
one way to do this to to have them make occasional requests and you are rewarded for fulfilling it.. or punished for neglecting it.

"The people want more bread for their work!
O Raise Wages
O Ignore the request
O Deploy troops on street corners to quell dissent"

the people in your city are ill and a few people have already died... your soothsayers/apothecaries believe that the illness is caused by a "taint" in one of the wells your people get water from.
A: seal the well and hire more apothecaries from a neighboring city to deal with the current ill? (most bread.. you gain a few workers if your not at your limit and your people are happier)
B: Seal the well and quarantine the sick? (less bread.. not much happens no change to happiness)
C: do nothing and hope for the best? (no bread but take a minor hit to happiness and might loose a worker or three...)

and if your people are pissed enough they... do what they do in COTN and protest?
I want RIOTS!
and if they are happy enough maybe you get a production bonus?
