Ok. I've collected all luxury resources required for a second city only through market trade. Now it's just waiting until I've amassed enough bread/bricks, and finished building the remaining three ships.

I think it's good that it works, and in a reasonable amount of time, too. My plan for the second city is to build it up by only trading via ship, and somewhere where the public market is real busy (and thus maybe less ship trading going on). Any suggestions where to place it?

I'd hoped to be able to buy more jewlery to reasonable prices, and snatched excess perfume ... but it never happened, so my palace is still only level 3.

I read somewhere that making new cities isn't active yet...
but I couldn't find the post again

Next you need to build a warehouse, Mnemon, or you won't have storage room for the 1500 bricks. IIRC, you will have to upgrade it also. Your warehouse will tell you your capacity after you build it.

Lvl 1 warehouse

Clay, Wheat, Reeds: 2500/each
Bricks, Pottery, Baskets: 500/each
Luxury Materials: 500/each
Luxury Goods: 250/each

lvl 2

Clay, Wheat, Reeds to 4000/each
Bricks, Pottery, Baskets to 800/each
Luxury Materials to 800/each
Luxury Goods to 400/each

without a warehouse you have a limit of 300 bricks

...Now it's just waiting until I've amassed enough bread/bricks...

To store the bricks you will need a level 4 warehouse. Bread is no limit at present.

Level 3 warehouse:
Clay, Wheat, Reeds to 7000/each
Bricks, Pottery, Baskets to 1400/each
Luxury Materials to 1400/each
Luxury Goods to 700/each

A level 4 warehouse will store:
Clay, Wheat, Reeds 10000/each
Bricks, Pottery, Baskets 2000/each
Luxury Materials 2000/each
Luxury Goods 1000/each

Am I the only one who finds it annoying that the brick requirement is just barely too much for a level 3, which can store far more than needed of the others? Seems like the warehouse limits still need some tweaking IMO.

As someone who is constructing their level 4 warehouse, i find the level 3 warehouse limits perfect and reasonable.

A couple of hours ago I would have thought that they should be tweaked too...

Or maybe it's the city construction requirements; should the brick cost really be the most restrictive?

Ok. Search for the nome Bastheker. Then try to go North :).

The name of the city obviously will be Hinterland. Let's call this an experiment to see if it is possible to get trade growing if you end up in a position where there's ONLY inactive players for loads and loads of nomes, where you are forced to trade via ship and it will take days for other's ships to reach you.

My guess is most people will not agree on a trade. That's why I allowed myself to make this a little easier. I searched for a cedar nome, so I could produce more ships easily and I am allowed to trade with my first city (let's say the unfortunate player that ended up that far away has a friend that already plays).

I actually did NOT plan to go all the way North. I just scrolled away from civilisation a little and then started looking for a cedar Nome with Bast (so I could ship sandals from my main city) that does not have another cedar nome directly North or South. I didn't find any. That's why "Hinterland" really is in the Hinterlands.
