Since several people mentioned a poll in the other thread but no one posted one yet here it is.

I think from what I can tell there are a lot of Pharaohess playing this game.

I also think there are a lot of older players i.e over 30 playing. And please don't get upset if I called you old and you are only 31. I mean beacuse most games seem to be filled with 8 year olds. This is a much more mature type of game and that makes it great.

I if there was any doubt am male.

You cna only write a poll after you have posted the opening post in the thread. Its just a feature of the system. Not a big deal except this time several of you got to the thread before I finished the poll.

Well I guess I should have made two polls so you could only vote once but that would have been two threads. I trusted no one to abuse the system.

Interestingly we have 56 people but 58 ages plus 7 who are old enough, so either 9 people put two ages or 9 people didn't put their age. Still its coming out as expected. A good range of players.

Hey - I'm NOT exactly really kinda 29. Or maybe 29 with experience. Or something!
But darn it, with my stupid leg and the kids and whatnot, I figure I've darn near earned the right already to do whatever I want! (not that it ever happens...) Having the body of a 70 year old and the mind of a 20-something kinda makes the wheels in the brain go whacky! :D

I hate to scare you, but my first was 40 days overdue. Not really I got pregnant 28 days after they thought I did, so she was 12 days overdue. It is perfectly normal to be 14 days overdue.

When I got my first child, I had a similar game running (virtual villagers). Checked in that morning and then a week later when I came from the hospital my population had risen from 10 to 100 people! :eek: Man, and all *I* managed in the meantime was *one* child ;)

Technically they weren't called Pharaoh anyway; the word is a Hebraic corruption of the Egyptian term "per a'a" meaning Great House, which wasn't used of the Egyptian king until the 19th Dynasty.
The term generally placed on monuments is "Nisu Bity" meaning "He of Sedge and Bee", also translated as "King of Upper and Lower Egypt".

I read it somewhere, I think it was in some history book or other.
From what I remember, it was always used to refer to the royal residence, but it was first used to refer to the king (in the same way we'd say "Downing Street" or "the Palace" to refer to Britain's leaders) in the days of Amunhotep III. Then it started being used more regularly in the days of Ramesses II. Wasn't used on monuments, but more informally, in papyri and on the kind of clay tablets used for letters and personal writings such as those found at Deir el-Medina.
