For a while now I have been wondering what 'else' could be added to the game to increase the cooperative side of the nome beyond just donating to the temples.
monuments were my first thought but they are already planned and 'somehow' involved in the military side of the game...
Then it hit me!
what about a Nome wide series of irritations and dikes?
each city could add into a pool of resources needed to construct the nome wide enhancement..
this would be a large enough requirement to force most if not all the Nome to contribute...
the Nome wide Irrigation would increase the productivity of all the wheat fields in the nome and the dikes would help protect the fields from unusually rapid waters (among other things)
this enhancement would also reduce the negative effects of bad inundations and failed floods slightly
but it needs to be constantly maintained or it will begin to erode
(needs a constant flow of bricks and other materials to remain active and at 0% damage)
of course it would also be cool to be able to see the irritations on the nome map so your nome can gloat!
so what do you think? yay nay?

Good idea, also would need to assign workers to work on the project. After all what greater 'resource' do we have than our people.
yay :)
Definitely sounds good to me if something is added to increase cooperation among the pharaohs of a nome.

and it gives the non military loving pharaohs a "grand project" that they can participate in as well
since from what I understand monuments will be battlefields?

I too would like to see more things for a nome to cooperate in. An irrigation system to help those lazy wheat workers would be nice. Also the bridge suggestion across the nile could be a joint project.
Another was to increase the cooperation between nome mates would be have all resources in the nome. This would allow local trading between nome mates. facilitating the alliance type play that got a 3rd city. it could become not only an individual game but a nome vs nome challange to be top nome.

GO King!
Excellent idea! Bonus is for the players who don't really like the military side of the game.
Love it! :)

Sounds like a good idea to me. Since disasters are being planned, this could be a way to lessen these effects and create a greater since of community.
In ancient Egypt, each sepat was administered by a nomarch, a governor. Also capitals of some nomes changed through time, so this wouldn't be far from history. So maybe each sepat could have a capital which could change like rankings (or maybe this would be a little too complicated).
I like the idea of irrigation channels showing on the nome map also. Maybe a different palace icon for the capital.

i think such projects should be priced according to the levels of the palaces in this sepat and not have some fixed costs. if the priced are fixed some sepats would struggle while others could do it easily just because of how many active cities are there.

we are minor pharaohs not Nomarchs
also if a capital was chosen is should be the highest ranking players city
Yes, I definitely like this one!

Sorry I thought we were governors working our way to the status of pharaoh. No nome capital?

Nomarchs were the semi-feudal rulers of Ancient Egyptian provinces (Greek nome, Egyptian sepat), serving as provincial governors.

I know what a nomarch is o_0
but it says "Pharaoh {your name} Rank # 2666 of 2666
why wouldn't they just call you a Nomarch?
I guess this is a bit off topic though o_0

They call us pharaohs because that's the word people know. Nomarch is much too obscure for general use.

I want to bump this old thread ... why?
well I feel that the cooperative side of the game needs more work especially considering the tone of the forums lately
Reed give us peaceful players something to work together on!
we need more bread to support the market and PVP anyways :/

I agree, give this some more attention!
I would love more cooperative projects

I agree, as long as it uses bronze, leather and cedar in it's construction :)

hahaha well that's good cause that's all it is at the moment o_0
I bumped this thread in an attempt to make lemonade out of lemons ;)

Some things are coming... (re; the server/nome events that I've mentioned). The random event stuff was the start of it. Which is to say that they will affect things like that (e.g., making Hapi, uh, happy, or not).

I like the idea as well. I like it a lot. However, I can tell you that in the 2 nomes I am in, there is are only a few that contribute to the sacrifices. Maybe we can eventually get the slackers on board, but I am not holding my breath. I am afraid it would be the same way here. I would therefore propose that all benefit in some way, but those that contribute to the effort more get a bit more benefit, giving some encouragement to the whole group to do their part.

Great idea, although I'm hoping you meant "irrigations". I think we've had enough irritations lately. ;)
Cheers.

It's because I used the forums auto spell check and wasn't paying much attention
it's a loose loose situation with that function ;)
As a suggestion to possibly make this a bit easier.
A new shop called irrigation management or something similar (you need people to manage it after all ;)).
Basically for each level, of each of that shop in the nome wheat production rises by 1%.
For each level more workers can be added at a cost of 1 cedar/hour ea and bonus applied accordingly by the number of workers/max.
Low/no cedar = no bonus.
So, lets say 4 Pharaohs with level 4 irrigation = 16% increase in wheat production, and 92 cedar consumption total (23/Pharaoh).
Wheat specialisation applied afterwards, so wheat speccers dont get screwed but actually benefit further from it.
To make it economical many Pharaohs (or cities) will have to contribute to the irrigation as its unlikely that 1 Pharaoh can sustain a large wheat bonus with higher level irrigations.

I like this idea. It will create more cooperation within the Nome, as a group to attain good.
With the start of Ship wrecks on the Nile, this can be incorporated with it. The better your Nome invests in maintaining a high level Waterway, the less chance that Ships from your Nome will be affected by Ship wrecks.
And just like with the Temple donations, you would want a fair reward for those that do invest in the Waterway versus those that don't.
But it would be a great addition to the advancement of the game.
