View Full Version : Is this game story driven?

It's the only question I got about this game. I'm not really one that gets excited about story driven RTS type games. I like more open-ended games like the Civilization series and Europa Universalis. Games where you make the story based on your actions, rather than games that dictate a story to you.
Not that it'll affect whether I'll buy the game or not. It looks great and a breath of fresh air. i'm just curious.

Just to clarify, it isn't an RTS.
As far as I know, the only story might be the actual campaign. But I am no expert on this. I am just going from what's been said and what Pharaoh was like (yes I know, they're different). You may get choices on how to run the story though, (say the Henen-Nesw or Inyotef civil war) and you apparently get to choose the location of your capital city of the kingdom. I hope that helps but it probably doesn't. :)

I think Wen Kha-Ne is right. The game will of course follow the history of Ancient Egypt but I think that for the most part you are writing the story or better, rewriting the history of Ancient Egypt.

Nothing I've seen so far leads me to believe that the game is storyline driven....thank goodness.
"So let it be written. So let it be done." may have worked in the movie "Ten Commandments", but it would bore the heck out of me a game like this. It's one reason why I quit playing Empire Earth so quickly.

Here's hoping there's a fair degree of freedom to mould the game and lose many night's sleep!

Keith, I'm curious. Did you enjoy any of the Single Player Campaigns, or any sections of them, at all?

Not greatly, no. The computer AI cheats were just too ruinous to the SP mode.
