Welcome to the Dakhla Oasis, where one might learn how to rise above the primitives of 8000-9000 B.C. and the dawn of Egypt. This is an initial scenario of which is planned to be a campaign.
It is, also, my first go at it, and therefore I spent a large amount of time trying fully grasp how the triggers responded. I throughly, tested it.
- Escape from the standard Nile river landscape and begin in an Oasis where one expands to the Nile.
- Early expansion will find the uncivilized.
- Conquring the uncivilized brings rewards which are not always the same.
- 8000-9000 B.C.
- One must prove resource handling skills to complete and progress.
- Version 1.0 While it is still sort of beta, there should not be any bugs.

Have fun, and PLEASE let me know what you think. - Akutra Cea, LeapMaker.com
P.S. I, also, have some movie shorts on that site with COTN. Be sure and check them out by clicking the TV icon. On http://shop.leapmaker.com I have FREE USB 2.0 memory sticks.

You know you can upload a scenario here as well!
Just edit your post, click "go advanced" and "manage attachments". People can download it then directly, and there's no need to zip it. :)

Yes, I am aware of that. A zip allows me to include additional files. I have updated it so that one may download only the "SCN" file (The majority probably do not use the LCL file anyway).

Here is, also, a direct upload. BE SURE TO CHECK http://shop.leapmaker.com for FREE USB 2.0 stick. I only say that because I would rather people on this site get them (limited offering). ;)
Thanks.

Howdy, Acu-Ra!
Always excellent to see a new scenariomaker. Thank you so much & the map is absolutely gorgeous! :)
Designed on v1.3.01 (I guess), but I played it on Alexandria.
I'm having a few problems with your scenario. Only 32 villagers? On Hard? Uh, I don't think so.
I'm also getting a lot of stuck laborers off map cuz your basalt quarry is backwards with the entrance on the map edge. COTN has edge-of-map issues & scenariomakers/players need to avoid this.
Lastly, I have foraged food in my bakeries which is never a good sign.
One of your goals (you used the Goal screen & didn't use triggers which can be a problem, but too early to tell) is 10 large basalt statues. This might be a problem for players. I believe this is translated by the Editor to 10 raw large basalt & not constructed statues. I will have to trick basalt quarrying triggering to do this if there is no World Map site for importing.
I'm gonna try it again & cheat with 100 villagers. ;)
EDIT: I have converted your .scn to Alexandria with Great Works turned on, 100 villagers & properly turned your basalt quarry so far. Since you used OR on the Goal Screen, I should be able to win, even meet all three goals, w/o ever going to the World Map. So far, 10 Large Statues & 5000 food does not produce a Win Screen & this tells me that your Goal Screen is probably dead (the reason we don't use it). Next is getting 100 gold & something tells me that won't work either. If not, I will create a triggered Win version, requiring all of your goals & then add a 4th goal to force players to complete the World Map. I also might need to add the ability to get resources to complete Great Works. Not sure yet, since I haven't gone to WM on this version.
REEDIT: Got over 100 gold & even over just 5000 wheat itself & still no Win Screen. Completed World Map. Goals screen definitely dead as a doorknob. The work on new triggers has begun. You will have to build both Great Works this time too!
REEDIT (4/13/09): My Lab Project (http://www.tiltedmill.com/forums/showpost.php?p=251530&postcount=3) is still a work in progress. Still having a bit of resistance from the Editor with a triggered Win Screen. ;)

Ok, well I did test it and was able to complete it fine. Not sure why you were having issues. Of course, I think I did not go all the way the the "Win Screen". However, I was easily able to satisfy the Wheat requirements and build a large oasis for a town.

Howdy, Acu-Ra!
Yes, your scenario plays fine as a sandbox. It just doesn't have a win screen & more initial laborers would be nice.

Yes, I have updated it. However, the win screen will not trigger. I tried for several hours with both the triggers and the standard "victory conditions". I placed them both in the scene, but they will not trigger when the requirements are met. While testing it, I am certain before it did trigger. Also, before (perhaps it is because I updated COTN) in the Scenario Information (The Eye of Ra or Horus button) the victory information was there from the victory conditions. I remember specifically formatting it for that window (it required some line spacing). Any help would be appreciated. I mean it is the beginning and everything, I do not yet have thousands of years of proven results, yet....but I do have a few years. I have attached an update.

You set your victory to "any player exclude world". Try "player 1".
I think Matt Zimmitti once stated in the editing tutorials, that you always should use "player 1" in your triggers.

Yes, I've tried both. It is left that way because that was the most recient attempt. I tried "player 1" first. I will try something else, and update here.

I have now resolved the victory screen issue. It seems the trigger will not trigger on the food requirement. I have resolved it by making a "New City" (the site for my next scenario in the campaign) visible once you have built 10 Striding Pharaoh Statues. To settle it requires Food and Gold, the victory screen will trigger after one "Activates" the new site. :D
Let me know if that resolves the issues. Oh, BTW I did add some more villagers. Thank you.

When the new site activated, I got an immediate failure screen :(
