Usually I don't complain about games, but I guess I am a little pissed and need to give some ****. still hoping some1 can give me some good tips tho.
Yeoman
large map
highest difficulty
no reveal map
requests on
raids on
randomized resources
Everything works out perfectly until I leveled my craftsmith to armorsmith. Before that my men have great gears and wipe raiders in like less than 20 secs.
but then... dragons come as raiders! holy crap, 4 at a time, while my highest lv men are lv 4(on a side note, I intentionally hold back my char to lv3 so the raiders won't be absurdly stronger)! the dragons range from lv5 to lv3, but that doesn't matter. They just fire breath everything and defense means nothing. While I couldn't kill them in time another raid form up and 8 dragons are raging through my puny primitive village.
to make it worse the map doesn't have herbs and the king keeps bugging me with wild game which is guarded by 7star mobs(I had to refuse him almost 3 times, sweet isn't it).
If any1 know how to solve this please post your thoughts. Otherwise, I would have to kneel down before the mighty AI of hinterland.

That's the way it goes in Hinterland - luck of the draw. If you're in that situation, you'd best restart, then.
Of course, it *is* possible to deal with dragon raiders like that if you're an archer with auto-healing ability and gold production and food production benefits acquired from level-up options. Raiders stay in town for a limited time before running off; that doesn't mean that more won't come, of course! ;)

I've had this happen to me before. I got giants instead of dragons as raiders, but they annoyed me to no end. When it first happened I had no choice but to reset the map. I really don't think there's much else to do, but since the maps are relatively quick (one of the game's saving graces), it really shouldn't bug you too much.
I've also had the king give me 4-5 unfinishable requests for stuff like Mandrake and Wild Game. It's pretty random, but seems unfair that he'll ask for mandrake 5 times in a row when it's guarded by 7-skull mobs. If you want to have any chance gaining these properties at a lower level, you have to have at least one of two things in place:
1. 3-4 herbalists (the non-upgraded ones) churning out healing potions
2. A very hardy fighter
If those are in place you can cherry pick the enemies one at a time returning to town to heal (use the potions during 1 on 1 fights), and with a little luck you'll get it done within 10 days. If that doesn't work you have to just restart the map. :(
I didn't really understand the concept of having a healer in my party until I'd played through 4-5 games. Acolytes make excellent healers, as can herbalists and doctors. I was able to defeat the final 10 mobs on a large map without even returning to town with myself, an acolyte, a farmer and a hunter. I'd never take on the entire mob at once. I'd give the acolyte a sword until he was low on health, heal him with a hotkey (1-4 are hotkeyed to use healing potions) so he wouldn't die, then have him heal us all after the enemy was dead. Since we were never overwhelmed, I was fine. Hopefully this helps a bit.

guys thx for the input...as for the raiders, I have seen various types, goblins, spiders, orcs, gnolls, trolls, bandits, ogres, but none of them are as bad as red dragons(I haven't met giants btw so not sure about their abilities).
A dragon does the fire breath which ignores the armor of your char and his followers, and 4 of them would handily kill any heavily armored city guards. I wonder if there is any fire resist potions otherwise This would be a pain in the ass.

yea so I changed the strategy and it works out perfectly...
knight
hardcore
large map
no reveal map
request on
raiders on
I won the game with the knight at lv14 and the 3 healers at lv5~6.
final score = 42650 with a subtotal of 359

Knight is the man, can take down whole raiding parties himself

Knight is also the lowest scoring character in the game. I almost exclusively play Outlaw nowadays.

I dont know where you heard that but I totally believe you cause I play long hardcore games with Knight, trying to achieve *Everything* and bring every type of worker into town, and my scores are in the low 20Ks...
Are knights low scorers because they have the best fight abilities?

It says when you are choosing a character at the bottom of the screen. I forget off the top of my head the exact words, but it's something like difficulty score. The lower it is the lower your score will be no matter how well you do. Switch to Outlaw and it's like 4.9 and for Knight it's like 3.6 (the lowest of all characters). This is a value that is multiplied with all the other values at the end so small increases have a big effect on the total score.
Some of the difficulty scores I don't agree with. Like Journeyman is really easy to play because he has all the starting resources and no penalties at all, but his difficulty score is actually one of the highest.

Ok for you guys to be getting all the way into the 40Ks you must have resources hidden and randomized resources, cause with outlaw I max the @(#* outta my town and my final score was only 38K.
I cant play a map not knowing how to plan my attack for gathering resources or (even worse) fighting through half a map only to find out my water and herbs are in the last two areas
