A box will never come. It costs way too much to box it and get it to stores.
Borrow you're parents' credit card, or get one.

Never say never. Hinterland now comes in a box!

I've never played without the patch and I've never seen the moon or sun despite looking for them. I now have the Alexandria expansion and still no moon or sun.
Any idea if I delete all, reinstall CotN and the Expansion WITHOUT the patch, will the game work appropriately? Do I really need the patch?
Thanks.

I've been installing and uninstalling to test this, but it is the patch. The patch also appears to be included in the Alexandria Expansion...the brickyard is available and the Moon and Sun are gone. Night lasts about 4 hours and the sky never gets darker than a purpley-blue.
It's a shame, you need the patch but must trade the rest of the solar system for it. There's a mod here to put stars into the night sky. I'll try that and and see if it works.

Egads, but what will control the tides?! Where will sunlight come from to warm the surface since radioactive decay just won't do?!:eek::eek: and what about the crops, now the chloroplast won't have sunlight to absorb.:eek::eek::eek::eek:

The moon setting over the city is one of the most beautiful things I have seen. I will continue playing my pre patch, non alexandria to enjoy that.

I have taken a few images from the Original US disk version 1.0 for your enjoyment just now. A trip down memory lane. The Sun looks a bit different than I remember. Perhaps it was sharpened up with patches 1.1 or 1.2.
1) Moonrise
2) Sunset
3) Moon & stars high in the sky
..cries that they are no longer with us from v1.3 on forwards...
You definitely want to patch your game up to v1.3.01 & also get Alexandria. Both rock & they are worth losing the Sun, Moon & Stars.
Nothing is worth losing the sun and moon over. :S
*cries*

/me hopes for a CD version of Alexandria. Even mail-order OEM style with no paper manual or box.
I just will not pay for a download only game
News Flash, Valve goes bankrupt, Steam closes, no one can play any of the games they paid for. Substitute Steam and Valve for any D/L service you care to mention.
Once bitten. Twice shy...

Well, I'd rather like to have a CD in my hands, too.
But then again, what would a CD version of Alexandria cost? There are not that many customers (less than who bought tha original game). They have to be pressed, boxed, shipped etc. TM would earn less and we would pay more.
The best solution I can think of is an online service from which you can get your copy and burn a CD from. Sure, you'll still have no shiny manual, but how many games you bought recently in a box still have them anyway? :(

I like that solution, as long as I can burn a CD/DVD with the manual on disc. I also want to be able to install and play without an internet connection.
Oh and as to the question about manuals, I have every game box, manual, Inserts, promotional material from all the 100's of games I have bought since the 80's.
ok so I'm a little weird about collecting game stuff.
edit: I seem to recall one service that lets you d/l a copy and save it locally but you still needed to be online to install and play...

Oh, I have a whole rack full of game boxes, too :) Although I started to throw away some boxes and pack several games together a few years ago, else I would have run out of space a long time ago...
But most games I bought in the last 5 years or so have no real manuals anymore; just a tiny sheet with installation advices and a hotline number. :(
I still have my pharaoh manual which is 1 cm thick, too :D

Yep, I actually broke down the boxes but saved them and inserted everything into clear heavy duty sheet protectors. (told you I was nutzo)
Not sure what I will do now that the newer games come in the smaller plactic CD cases. I guess toss the generic cases and just keep the labels and contents.
I wonder if they will ever be worth anything as collectibles. ;)

I have all my old game boxes with manuals etc. I also have an old computer to play some of them for fun. Many actually run on DOS and windows xp can't match it even using DOSbox or something similar. I have many old games from now defunct companies.

Yeah! I just noticed that the Sun and Moon appear to have disappered with the Enhanced Edition patch. I don't have Alexandria yet (working on that).
Which of the gods did we tick off (Ma'at mebbe?) to have those vanish?

I know, it's a very old question, but has anybody found a solution?
Has anybody tried to copy the shader folder from the unpatched 1.0 to the current, enhanced edition?
Changing the stars texture in the shader folder brought back the stars somehow. Maybe we can do something similar to get back the sun and the moon.
