Lag Hell

I used to play this game with zero issues on this computer. I had to send it off for repairs and the update occured, so I'm not sure which is causing unplayable lag to occur. I have updated drivers for the video card and direct x. I'll post my DxDiag.

I've checked through some other post and can't find anything to help.

Any ideas?

Also, to clarify my problem, the initial load takes a long time then even clicking the buttons on the opening screen takes 10 seconds. Lastly, I'm not sure how long it takes to actually load a game because it was looking like a 2+ hour load at the rate the bar was progressing.

Your video drivers are too old being early 2008 The game needs video drivers and sound drivers from mid 2008. Very likely when your computer was repaired what they did was a system restore using the HP system restore which rolled your drivers and DX back. You will need to again install DX9c which adds files to DX 10 that the game needs.

I had done several windows updates and just realized that SP1 wasn't even on it yet! I'll try all the windows updates. The driver was the latest from the HP update but I'll try the website to find a more current one. Thanks for looking into it.

How I do install Direct X 9.0c if I already have 10 because it when I try it, it says that I already have all the files I need.

You will need to get your video driver update from Nvidia not from HP since laptop builders rarely have updated drivers for video. For DX9c my understanding (since I don't have Vista) is that you actually have to download DX9 to your desktop and run the install from there.

I've downloaded DirectX 9.0c and installed it from a desktop, which works differently then when you try to do the updater and it said it was successful. I also downloaded the latest Nvidia drivers but it still goes unplayably slow. Any other thoughts?

Are you using an antivirus program by chance? When I had Kaspersky 2009, Hinterland would take about 20-30 minutes to load. When I shut it off, no problems.
