Hey. Iḿ new in here and I have a question: has it is its my dream to build the greatest city ever. For that, however, I need lots of educated workers. Reading around the forums I fowd about the prestige mod, only problem is, I can't find it!!!!!!!!

Please, tell me were it is...

It's no real mod. You have to mess with the gamecode and change the maximum of 35 educates to the maximum you want (up to 225 possible I think).

I looked for the mod but couldn't find it. If you are comfortable with replacing data files, just download the attached file and copy it to the\db directory of CotN directory. Just be sure to backup or rename the original file before copying this one.

CotN is installed at; C:\Program Files\SEGA\Immortal Cities\
on my machine.

look in the directory Data\db or ;
C:\Program Files\SEGA\Immortal Cities\Data\db
for the file dbPrestigeLevels.dat
Rename it to dbPrestigeLevels.old or copy it to another directory...whatever you are comfortable with.

Then copy dbPrestigeLevels.dat to the same directory. Graduates are increased to max of 255. Screen shot here (http://www.tiltedmill.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=31293&d=1252938746) and post here (http://www.tiltedmill.com/forums/showthread.php?t=23962) post #7.

Thanks tomnobles! I searched all over the net for this.

But something I have to ask: I have the steam version of the game, does it work for that to?

For a challenge, try working with the game's set cap on educated slots and build a megacity sprawled out like Los Angeles sans the mass urban chaos. :D I've done it before with as many as 70 noble townhouses with the farmer slots mostly filled up (as have other players here) so it's certainly possible.

Is there any way to tell what your total population is other than a win screen?

Hardly. You can add up your people report, but that doesn't count women and children (aside from palace in v1.3). Since most CotNizens are married, you could double the number you counted (leaving out soldiers), but then you still haven't got the children. :(

Yes!

Add up your People Report. Multiply homes that can have children by about 3.2 & add in soldiers & priests. Do not count villagers & vagrants.

This is for happy cities. ;)

The 3.2 number is a good average, but increases in older cities. Less in stressed cities.

EDIT: The 3.2 will be higher in scenarios with the spawned villager Editor trick. Why? Cuz city children are no longer used to populate homes as much.
