This is a fun scenario with plenty of resources, raiders, enemies, and hidden cities. If you're skilled enough to get through it all and claim victory, you will end up with a really nice sandbox to fully develop.

An "enormous" amount of time went into making this scenario. I hope you enjoy playing it as much as I enjoyed building it. I have tested it and all appears to work properly. Let me know what you think.

Note: This scenario requires Alexandria to play and has both Great Works enabled.

Good Luck! :D

I see you finally finished it! I just love the pyramids over the water!

If it plays as nice as it looks, I know I will enjoy it.

I will let you know what I think. Thanks!

Howdy, RJG!

Goodie, cannot wait to try it tonight.

Thank You! :)

Lou,

This is by no means an easy scenario to win, so do not plan on beating it quickly. This scenario is tough and you must plan every move or it will become impossible to win!

Yes, the raiders will stop at some point in the game! Hang in there.

Good Luck!

YIKES! This is not easy.  There are raiders EVERYWHERE stealing the little bit I have!

Question RJG, were you able to win this?

Howdy again, RJG <covers eyes so as not to see previous posts> !

I am about 1 quarter way through your scenario so far & see already that this is gonna take awhile.

Most players do not want their game to last this long. World Map resources are too small & your prestige values are waaay too high (grand obelisks 50+ & especially starting off with 40 prestige on Hard difficulty).

Looking real good for your first scenario. The map is absolutely gorgeous.

For those that do not know, this scenario requires Alexandria to play it & has both Great Works enabled.

Love it, RJG! Thankx again! It will take me much longer to complete it, but that is good too! :)

We only get 2-3 cedar per year from the World Map & must have warships & charioteers. That's a lot of cedar & what probably takes it so long to win.

Now, of course, I have not opened much on the World Map yet & other sites might be revealed.

Your cost to open sites is also too low. For challenge, up them a lot. Example, instead of two fine limestone, how about 200? OK, 100 for most players. ;)

You can easily force us to build statues for prestige, so don't give us much prestige to start with.

If you wanna be really mean, instead of only firing your raider trigger one time each time, how about 2-3 using the AND extension on the raider trigger? <evil grin>

WOW !!!

Man-o-man, was I wrong!

The World Map cedar was perfect for me, RJG. Not so sure about other players, cuz I know how to micro COTN. Just the prestige is too high.

This was an OUTSTANDING scenario & highly reccomended for any COTN warmonger like I am.

First image is my soldiers leaving on a land attack. I love to watch soldiers on reed boats. They rock! :D Rest of the images at win screen.

I need to go back on Continue Play & build the rest of the Grand Obelisks, cuz you had a few of them.

Thank You sooo much, RJG! You definitely get your stars for this one!

:) :) :)

The G is for Grad's Pyramid.

I won it! :D Not as fast as RJG or Tinkerbell, but I did win. I honestly didn't think I would be able to win this but I did and I loved every minute of it. Great scenario! Tinkerbell must know something we don't know, RJG.

I love the design of the river and the land. RJG, might you have this in a non- military type sandbox? If you do, I would love a copy. :)

But upon doing some testing with a fresh scenario, using two small pyramids on the startup, that game started out at zero and eventually built up to 40.

Hey RJG, I'd have to do some testing, but I'd bet it is the pyramids, due to prestige increase over time. Are those pyramids populated at start-up? (i.e., is there a Pharaoh in them?)

When a pyramid is finished, the prestige stays at 0 for a minute, and then increases. You get the message "Your prestige is rising." It then increases over time to the maximum. I think this takes 5 years. It then slowly decays to the minimum, which is like half of the maximum, over about 5 more years.

Those numbers are all approximate. I'm completely guessing; Tink I'm sure knows the figures cold. But given that the prestige starts at 0 and then rises, I'd bet it's either those pyramids or a site on the world map.

If it is the pyramids, and you want to keep them, one way is to figure out what the prestige rise is and match it with a hidden negative prestige site on the World Map. People have done that before, and it works pretty well. You just have to be sure to get rid of them later, or decrease the penalty, or else the player will be stuck in a hole for a while, which is disastrous.

RJG, if I say publically, it will ruin the challenge for the other players & I don't do that nor walkthroughs. No cheating involved though, nor looking at the editor. I have been playing COTN since it was released. It has to do with proper cedar management & definitely using reserves on & off all the time.

Of course, I do not play minimalist. With COTN, more is always better. Overkill works!

As for Grand Obelisks, only enter a 1 in the editor for those that will be achieved by the player quickly (that gets 10). The 2nd & later of each prestige item is halved by the game, so later ones can be 2 or 3.

You also had the options for the pyramids set as double, so that is why each was 20 & not 10.

I would leave this scenario as is & not change it. Start a new scenario. This one is fine as it is.

Never compare my result to other players. I am outside the norm & we want as many players to enjoy your scenarios as possible. I like em hard, most others do not.

EDIT: Yes, Yahya, those two pyramids are pre-set in the editor & no pharaoh in them yet. It causes a bit of an issue when pharaoh dies, cuz water is in the way of the royal coffin.

I have tried "everything" to change the options on those pyramids so they are not double, but they fail to change. Either my editor is not working properly or my scenario is messed up. Any ideas?

Sorry, RJG, that was my guess & I forgot what size they were. I was thinking very small & they are small. 20 is correct for that size. My blunder.

I'm very pleased to have finished quickly your RJG scenario.
Thanks for jour job.

I have already started working on a new scenario and if everything continues to work the way I think it all should, this is going to be one cool scenario! I have already tested one of my ideas and so far it worked. :D

How is that new scenario going? Almost done yet?

I come back daily looking for a new scenario. People like you are keeping the game alive. Thanks again for your job.

It will be a while before this one is done. I bet I have 50 plus hours in this scenario already and it is not even 25 percent finished. I am adding something that requires a lot of work, but it adds something to the scenario that is really cool and unique. I will not tell you anymore because I do not want to spoil anything.

As soon as it is finished, I will post it.

If I could make a suggestion. Please leave this one as is & make a new thread with the next version.

Have Fun scenariomaking! :)

Hi RJG,

Just checking on how that new scenario is coming?

Hi Lou,

The new scenario is around 75% finished. I do work on it every chance I get. Unfortunately, this time of the year I am really busy, which limits the amount of time I can work on it.

My best guess would be a few more weeks. As soon as it is finished I will certainly post it.

Hi RJG, how is that new scenario coming? Do you have any floating pyramids in this one? :D

Hi Lou,

Yes, the new scenario is "finally" finished. All I have to do is find the time to test it before I post it here. You would not believe how many HOURS went into making this one.

No, I don't have any floating pyramids in this one, but I do have a quarry that is underwater. Does that count for anything? :D

Here are a few screen shots showing that quarry and some cliffs, rich in turquoise and emeralds!

I hope to post it soon.

.

The screenshots look really nice RJG. I particularly like how you colored the cliffs around the emerald and turquoise mines. Is snorkel equipment needed to mine the limestone? :D

I am looking forward to trying it out after you have tested it. I hope it is not too difficult.

Underwater quarries? OMG !!! I never tried anything like that, due to fear of pathing issues.

Good Luck, RJG! :)

Ah, shallow water might work. Good Stuff!

I have had no pathing problems at all so far. These guys take to water like ducks! In fact, they even quarry the limestone while they are completely submerged!

By the way, that fine limestone quarry isn't the only thing underwater....check out the attached screenshots.

Outstanding screenshots! I can't wait to play it. Gills! LOL :)

RJG, This is one of my all time favorites. Kind of a sandbox with Lighthouse and Library activated, just what I'm looking for. But about 3/4 of the way through I keep getting a CTD on my Steam version. Has any body else experienced this totally annoying situation?
