GsTommyLee: When you click the shrine for that god, is the indicator above it blue? Blue means a priest visited it recently and it's open for worshippers. Sometimes people don't go to the temple when it's open, so they say they couldn't worship. They'll just have to come back later. Also, did you dedicate the shrine to the god? If it's dedicated to "none", it doesn't do any good.

Also, eventually I always end up having about 10 or so shrines besides a big temple to keep things cool. But shrines are only 10 bricks and if you keep them together near a priest, he can handle it.

GsTommyLee: Click the shops to see if they have made any products to sell. That's one thing. Click the people to see if they have any food to BUY products. That's another. Are the shops relatively close to resources? (click them to see if they have rushes, clay, flax etc.) Maybe they are spending more time walking to the river vs. making stuff. That's the last I can think of just now.

I feel your frustration... let it run a bit... kick something soft if it helps... you'll get the hang of it I'm sure! * has sore toe from kicking something NOT soft :D *

I read in the in-game help that your citizens may want a cult temple for the patron god of your city, so you might have to look into building one.

You could probably support more farmers. Also, try build a scribe pretty close to your fields so he can assess taxes easier.

I think that if you build a temple and don't dedicate it, any god can be worshipped there.

GSTommyLee: First, have any of the suggestions so far helped you?

Second, regarding food, have you placed all the farms you're capable of supporting with your Palace (6) and Nobles (4 each, initially)?

Food running out should not be an issue unless you have an awful lot of goverment workers. There's a place on the food & bricks report that tells you how much food your workers will need.

P.S. Remember to reply what tips are helping... we're having to guess otherwise! :D

P.P.S. And if any HAVE helped, it helps us move on to your next question. So help us help you and it's cool.

There's a great thread on getting more food for your city:

No, you almost never need to build more than one cult temple (to the patron god of your city), and maybe two regular temples (I usually pick Osiris and Hathor). HOWEVER, you *do* need to build up to 12 shrines (I usually have 10-11), one dedicated to each major deity: Osiris, Hathor, Isis, Bast, Anubis, Ptah, Hapi, Horus, Amun, Ra, and maybe Thoth (for scribes) and Set (for military). You don't have to build these all at once, but people will begin to complain, suggesting what to buy next. I usually have 1-2 priests for shrines and regular temples, and add a third with my second temple or single cult temple.

I hope this helps. Good luck! You'll get it shortly. :D

Another suggestion I would like to stress is to build granaries pretty soon: your share of crop must be stored and if you have not enough storing space, at harvest time it is lost to you.
