View Full Version : Rational City Guards?

Though it's no real big problem to the city, I still found it worth telling. Guards seem to follow raiders from a certain point in the Raider's path. So when a guards spots a raider, the guard will chase down the guy's route to attack him.

Lets say the raider just looted a nice luxurous townhouse and just hits the road again, when a guard closes by. But the guard doesn't chase the raider in a direct path, but enters the building too (so walking the same route the raider did) and then goes afer the raider, as if it wants to check the victim to ask what the guy was doing in the house.

I know the guards only attack on sight, so I know that the only way to deal with the raiders problem is either get more guards and commanders, or raise an army and crush the raiders encampment, but this is not an strategic rather an AI issue :)

You really only need one city guard commander and several barracks.

I posted some info in another thread on a different topic about the use of city guards that some thought was useful:

This wasn't about keeping my city safe, but merely about city guards that pass by a raider without taking any action, except for running the same route the raider just did, untill the guard catched him. :p ;)

Do you have a weapon maker producing "Weapons"? If you don't your city guard can't do it's job. That guard you pointed out may have been unarmed.

Hehe, yes. And when I clicked the guard the interface said: "Going to attack"
