The only thing I can think is that the game is only available in the U.S., in which case I won't waste my time reading about it or trying the demo, because I can't get it. http://www.tiltedmill.com/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif

Seems pretty stupid to me. I would have thought you would have tried as hard as you could to get publishers in as many countries as possible. You've got potential customers in over 100 countries...

Children of the Nile is currently available in the US and will be available in Europe, Asia, Australia, etc come January or February. Many world-wide fans have already ordered and received US copies. See Tilted Mill's website for their press releases regarding the demo, the European release, their non-US publisher (Sega?), etc.

I'm not sure where the image you show came from, but if it's on the demo, I would say it means that the demo is in English. Read through a few of the threads on the General Discussion board for news about the demo, the European release, and other general topics.

CotN is a great game. I hope you enjoy it. And, welcome! :D

Hi Trev - i'm from the uk and i'm looking at it this way. By the time we get it over here it will(hopefully) already have various improvements and patches implimented out of the box. So our patience will be rewarded by a better game........hopefully :)

edit: and maybe we could have a union flag instead of the stars and stripes, for those who might otherwise get miffed? (not that i really mind that much...but some might?)

That is certainly correct (and a great outlook to have!), Thor, as we have seen from the first patch released with some graphic improvements and various other fixes as well. (Even the peddler's stalls in the merchant center changed color, and now, we can tell with a click who is in there, and what they are selling.) And the much longed for Princess make-over came about, and she looks soooo much better. :D

Because you know, Films (another form of entertainment) never, ever have different release dates in different countries.

And Fable didn't have a two month delay between its U.K. release and its US one.

Oh wait. They do. It did.

Sorry.

Nevermind.

But all the really big games and films only normally have a week or two delay in the release times. (GTA SA, Doom 3, Halo 2, The invincibles) and this is because they make more money per game/cinema ticket over this end of the world so they normally prefer us not to buy from US (hence the need to chip X Box / Playstations to do this) it also means people are less likley to look for pirate copys if they can get / see it legaley

Minimizing the delay between release dates has everything to do with preventing Piracy. Can I go to the local flea market and buy a shaky hand held recording DVD of the Invincibles for $12 by some dork who sneaked in his videocamera into the theater? Yep. And no doubt copies have been FedEx-ed to Europe now.

Likewise the Halo2 and San Andreas releases are about generating a lot of pre-release demand, securing pre-orders, day-of-release promotion events and getting as many sales as possible before sticky fingered pirates and the unethical slugs that buy from them saturate the after-market.

The target audience for CotN isn't really prone to buy pirated copies. So instead they can do a properly managed campaign of rolling release dates, building their publicity as they go release to release. In the US cinema used to even go city by city with releases.

Doom3 is a weird example, since they have a history of releasing the source code to the internet. They maintain full ownership of all artwork though. Still, pretty cool.

Sega want to get more known about the game to boost it's revenue. It was supposed to be a co-release with the US version but Sega put it back.

Blame them, not TM.
