I am confused on this when placing a clay pit sprite it does not seem to add or change anything viewable is it working or do they just get the clay from mud or something I placed rich mud terrain where I want them to make bricks from or is that just coloring the map? After I place the mud do i need to use the clay pit sprite then or what?

Another clay option is under units tab world level resources and that one really seems not to do anything but not sure on this.

Need help? I am clueless on these clay options.

Yes, you're right - it doesn't appear to change anything. However, I've found that if you paint a section of the map with the "clay deposit sprite", and then go to "Units | Resources | World Level" and select the "Clay Deposit" tool, you can use that tool to click-and-drag a window on the map which SELECTS the clay deposits that you painted there with the sprite tool. They show up as little round yellow circles.

I presume this is what is intended, but I'm not a designer. It works in the game. Interestingly enough, you can paint clay deposits on grass and perhaps other terrain too, though I haven't checked if it works in the game. I imagine it wouldn't make a difference.

Hope this helps.

The clay resource tool does not seem to do anything, but I learned that it does enable clay to be gathered in a scenario so you have to use it to have clay on the map.

Just to clarify, the clay pit sprite allows clay to be gathered at a specific location. It's just not visible.

All terrain except for floodplain is purely decorative, so if you have mud and place 1 clay resource point it does not mean that clay is available on every mud tile.
