I downloaded the demo today, and it seemed to install OK. However, when I try to start it, nothing happens. The windows 'hourglass'flashes for a moment, and nothing else happens.
My graphics drivers are newly updated, but the sound card drivers (Sound Blaster PCI 16) have not been updated by the manufacturer for some time. I've got the latest there is.
Any ideas as to why the game won't run? System info is attached - it's too big to post.
The soundcard is an older model, but claims to be 16bit. Changing it to a more modern design isn't viable, since I have a dual-boot Win98/2000 system, and I can't find a modern soundcard that has Win98 drivers (only Win88SE and ME, neither of which I have).#
FOLLOW UP (several hours later):
OK, the problem is solved! The game was being prevented from running by a splash-screen 'killer' utility which my system autoloads at startup. It's called 'Splashkiller', and it's been there so long I'd forgotten its presence.
I've left this posting rather than deleting it just in case someone alse has the same problem.
Best regards
Doug
