I was and still am having problems with the game crashing back to windows so I downloaded the patch yeasterday. ever since then all but 1 brick layer gets stuck at brickworks. they just stand there saying transporting bricks but never actually do that. it's frustrating me because no construction is getting done. how do i fix this? do i have to uninstall then reinstall the game. i hope not, before i downloaded the patch my city was doing awsome. :( HELP!

Yes, indeed - this is affecting me also. Frustrating as it is, I get around it at this stage by demolishing the guy's house and building new bricklayer accomodations.

Take a look at any buildings that are in the process of being built (needing bricks). Make sure that none of them are in any weird place or might be unaccessable (or just delete them to be sure). Sounds like maybe the bricklayers want to build but for some weird reason don't know how to get to the location. Hard to say, I find lots of pathing and delivering issues still in the game. I've got a repeatable trader sticking issue that's stopped my play cold.

Are your brickmakers actually making any bricks?
You may want to attach a copy of your save file to a new message in this thread so other can take a look at it.

I had over 500 bricks and the things i was trying to build, like cult temple, and upgrading my palace ect, were all spaced out. the cult temple was by the brick makers and brick layers with nothing else by it. the brick layers would go to brick makers and just stand there, several in the same spot. last night I uninstalled the game and deleted everything from my computer, then i reinstalled it w/o the patch, the brick layers don't get stuck anymore. but I wanna still know how to fix this because i want to be able to get the patch again.

Hi Jen,
Do you still have the save game where the bricklayers get stuck when loaded in the patched version? If so, please post it! It should help us figure out what the problem is.
Thanks,
Greg

I'm still seeing this as well. I have plenty of bricks in stock and one bricklayer is usually quite happy going off to deliver bricks - but the others to a man are standing in the brickyard with the status message that they are delivering bricks - but they never actually do.
I probably have some autosave games if they would help - and I could post one here if that was appropriate.

Hi Amon-Hotep,
Yes, a save game that shows this would be very helpful.
Thanks in advance,
Greg

We'll take a look at the save games and see if we can figure out what is going on to cause your bricklayers to become stuck.

In most of the cases, when people are seeing stuck bricklayers, it is because their buildings are packed too tightly or faced in such a way that there are no unblocked exits/entrances.
For the most part, the people in the game will realize they are stuck or unable to get where they are going and after trying to path somewhere, will teleport a short distance, usually unsticking them. In the case of the bricklayers, they are for whatever reason, not realizing they are stuck. We are looking into why, but in the meantime, building slightly less densely packed cities and paying attention to facing when placing buildings should keep you from seeing this problem.
Once you have bricklayers stuck, you may have to demolish the brickmakers homes and the bricklayers homes in order to free them.

I'm playing the patched version, also have stuck two bricklayers staring at two different brickworks for over a season (and afaik, forever.)
If I add a new bricklayer, he comes and gets stuck and one of the same places.
If I demolish a bricklayer's home, and rebuild it, the new one goes and gets stuck at a different brickworks.
If I demolish the brickworks he's stuck at, the bricklayer stays there staring off into space, occasionally chatting w passersby.
If I demolish the project (large mastaba) they should be working on, nothing changes. If I add a new building for them to work on, ditto.
Saved game attached.

Ok, I got them working. You had all your brickmakers facing the back of the brickmaker next to it instead of turned towards the road. While normally it shouldn't make a difference, as soon as demolished them all and rebuilt them facing the surrounding road they and the bricklayers sprung to life.
I also added a three common shops near the them and a bakery.
You also have your one scribe doing too much work. Build a second one for the merchant center set for Collecting Tariffs. Set the other one to Assess Taxes, because you aren't getting enough of your fields counted and not getting your fair share of the harvest. As a result your city is running out of food for short periods of time.
Is your game patched to version 1.2?
