I am able to start and play the game, but after some amount of time (varies - 1 to 30 minutes), my PC freezes and stops responding to the keyboard. I have to use the reset button to get back to the desktop. C: is a 20 gig drive with 15 gigs free, and CotN is on a 120 gig SATA drive with about 60 gigs free. Both are kept defragged.

It might be your video driver is the problem some of the newest drivers cause problems. Try the 7/22/2004 I know those work with CotN :D

Hard to say. Your video drivers are current enough. Looks like your sound device is integrated into the motherboard, that may or may not be the problem. The playback portion of the dxdiag shows no driver version or driver date. Assuming the playback driver is dated 2003 the driver is probably a little old.

SoundMax has a list of computer manufacturers and motherboard manufacturers that supply drivers for the SoundMax:

Well, as far as the sound card, I was using an SBLive, but switched to my onboard card as part of troubleshooting this problem. I have also tried playing with the sound card disabled, but that didn't help either. Checked Asus' website for a driver update, but they don't have anything newer than what I've got.

Just out of curiosity, try running the game at 1024x768 or 800x600 mode and see what happens. You may want to try the 16-bit setting too.

You may want to try lowering all the video setting in the game to minimums and give that a try too.

Well, turned out the solution was simple: I set the game to run in Win98 compatibility mode. Now it works. Hopefully I'll get as much enjoyment from this one as from Pharaoh.
