Laborers and Overseers

Do laborers do anything without overseers? I lost my 1 overseer due to retirement and I've noticed I have many laborers standing around "hauling" but they haven't moved for several years. I just took a big prestige hit because of no burial location for my pharoah and so no overseer is probably going to step in anytime soon (I have 5 priest vacancies, 1 scribe, and 1 overseer!). It looks like I may be heading in a downward spiral - no overseer to build pyramids, no prestige to get more overseers, more pharoah deaths means more prestige hit! Help!

Tyveil: Yep, you need the overseer to trigger the laborers (lazy louts!).

Couple thot's...

What is your current prestige? If you are in the 50-100ish range you can build small mastabas or small sphinxes using bricks (LOTS of bricks) and it will keep you going. If you are in the 200ish range you will need to cut back a bit on your scribe and priests and get an overseer back.

Have you looked on the map for other places to explore, trade with that have prestige? Have you added all your palace upgrades?

How many elites are you at? If you are in the 10ish range be sure one priest is full-time educating or the grads won't keep up with the retirees.

Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately, my palace has all the add ons and I have full explored the map, as well as constructed all the "steles" to add to prestige. My prestige was around 80 but it's taken several big hits in a row and is now down to 46. I have 10/10 educated with 7 vacancies. I'm finding it really hard to backpedal to keep up with my citizens needs now and I may just have to restart this map.

Well, do you have bricks? Sphynxes or mastabas? As long as the brickmakers are in full speed, build sphynxes. :)

You know, I was wondering why my sphynxes and mastabas kept going up while my statues didn't. Thanks! That should work!
