So Im watching Wrath of God or Man on discovery.. about Ramses son being killed... and Im wondering, how would you do a senario with only one accessible diety? I dont think Aten is one of the playable gods, but you could use Amun (I think)... is it possible to block the use of the other deities?

I dont think Im gonna do this, I was just wondering if its possible. :)

Egypt Week starts tomorrow on Discovery at 8pm!

In the Editor under Player and then Worship I think you can limit the gods worhsipped.

Would disabling a god stop your citizen's desire for that god, or just stop you from building temple to that god?

If so your people might get quite unhappy with a single god.

Playing the 9 step of Bast scenario now, limited to four gods and people complains about not being able to worship the others, mostly Hapi then the flood fails. I believe this is a bad idea to do.

We had the same experience as Magnum.... Jeff built a small map and disabled some of the gods .... the people still wanted to worship them and got rather red since they couldn't......

I am rather sorry the Aten isn't present ... I had wanted to do a Amarna map

I believe that disabling gods in the editor disables all the worship needs for a god that aren't tied to events. Things like Thoth being the patron of scribes and prayers to Bast giving thanks for healthy children should no longer pop up if those gods are disabled.

That explains the problems with Hapi, does it relate to Anubis and deaths in family also?
Also a fun ting about gods, I once followed then pharao went into a shrine to Ra and prayed to the patron of pharaos, (he did not leave his chair  )
I also made a shrine to Bast and a lots of people went where even if it was no complains about it before.

So we could disable all but Osiris (flood), Hathor (harvest), and Hapi (extreme floods) with no ill effects? I guess that Anubis is tied to the death in the family event, so probably need to keep him too. OOOOh, and maybe Horus (5th birthday of the Pharaoh). Hmmm and what about Ra (morning worship)? Geeesh, well those are still the first six shrines that have to be built in just about any city.

Time for me to backpedal :p

I got my signals crossed there for a moment. Disabling a god in the editor is like disabling a building. What you guys want to do is disable the events tied to a god.

If you want to have a scenario with say 4 gods, disable those gods so that the player doesn't dedicate buildings to those gods. Step 2 is disabling the events tied to those gods. You need to go to the Events tab (also under Players) and move the appropriate events from the list on the left to the list on the right. All the worship events should start with a 'W' and many of them have the name of the god attached to them in their title.

Sorry about the confusion on my part. :o

Ok, now is there any way to ADD player events...there is no worship event of any sort for Ma'at that I can find...other than perhaps the "Invasion" and "Crime Wave" reactions. Making Ma'at the Patron deity with no associated player events seems rather pointless for anything but story reasons...is this correct?

There is no way to add events unfortunately. You are correct that there is no event for Ma'at. To make a long story short, Ma'at is only in there for flavor at this point. :(

Ok, looks like I'm going to have to fake it somehow...this should be interesting, lol

@Raccoon_TOF:

Here's a thought on faking it somehow...

Using objects in the trigger system you could check to see if the player has a Ma'at worship building. If they don't, you could fire off some of the existing events, perhaps choosing some that are thematically close (but prolly not perfect) for Ma'at worship. You might get a little bit of funkiness in the UI feedback, but if you trigger out your own messages when they fire you might be able to pull it off.

Anyhow, you seem to have a good handle on things. Just thought I'd chime in.

Yup, I've already got the Ma'at cult temple object, and am experimenting with the other events to figure out what will work best for it. Messaging is the part that I need to get worked out, but that's going to come all together once I have the functionality of the scenario finished...much easier to create all the message effects at once and add them to the existing triggers, lol!

Cool. Make sure you get some sleep from time to time as well :p

Sleep? What's that? Anything like "assuming room temperature"?

Ok, I have the trigger functionally working, but appear to have run into a snag...is there any way to trigger a player event without triggering the popup message associated with that event?

I believe the message is hard-coded to fire. I think you're stuck w/ it. :(

Ahwell, guess I'll stick with the crime wave event for the cult temple trigger then, and only trigger the invaders event when I actually have raiders attack.
