I believed a pharaoh always preferred the largest tomb, but my latest one the second in line preferred a very small pyramid to a medium or small that was free? It was marked as free for everyone. It was strange, I got some loss of prestige for the death, but no death message and the coffin was the usual noble or royal mummy chest, not the large square pharaoh uses. He could have selected the small pyramid then I would not loose any prestige.
Other question, is 35 the max number of educated workers? I reached that in the 9 step of Bast scenario, even then my prestige reached 1300.

Magnum: Yep, for "normal" game play difficulty level it's 35 max elite  . And for "hard" it's 25   !
But I believe you can build QUITE a big city, measured by number of nobles, farms, etc. etc. with a bit of good design...
* especially for someone who can get 1300 prestige... ;) *
...is 35 the max number of educated workers?

That's odd. I haven't seen that behavior before. Maybe it had something to do with being open to anyone. It's preferable to set your largest tombs to "Pharaoh only". By the way, check to see your negative prestige points to see that you did indeed have your second Pharaoh die. It's possible that the coffin is actually for a "Royal Family member", not the Pharaoh himself. And the negative prestige is simply a leftover legacy of the last Pharaoh that passed away. Negative prestige from previous deceased Pharaohs remains for a while.
And as for your second question, as Sitearm9 said, 35 is the max for "Normal Difficulty" and 25 for "Hard". However, it is possible to build a gigantic city even with these limitations. I've bult a city with 60 Nobles and nearly 500 Farmer households while still having 8 open slots for educated workers.

Hi yes I doubt the pharaoh died I only have two dreads in my log, first went to another very small pyramid and the second in a medium and the palace use family number 3 for pharaoh, so its probably just a family member, even if the pyramid say a pharaoh is buried here.
The pyramid was free for all and closest to the city, has two other pyramids for family members but they was lazy and selected the closest.
And you can build a massive city with 35 educated workers; one fact is that you probably don’t need scribes because you will have too much tax to use if you are not into massive armies or enormous building projects with 200 workers.
I find myself in the situation that I sometimes give out food because the granaries are filled up before harvest. :)

Magnum: Excellent point! Have had this too re not needing scribes for taxes cuz' have more food than need already. Just an Exchange and a Merchant Center, perhaps, for scenery :) .
Have had up to 8 Commanders, 5 army and 3 navy, but really prefer a scenario where you can keep using the troops (Matt's working on it!)
And re Overseers, after a point don't need that many, there are enough to trigger all the project steps as much as needed. Guess you could mine a lot...
So that leaves lots of Priests taking care of lots of Nobles, Peasants, & Craftsman spreading out all over the Nome... :D
