View Full Version : Running slower after installing patch 2

Pardon my hopping in here, being that I am a complete newbie. I have only had the game for a couple of days, but I have played it for several hours.

Then I read about the patch so I downloaded and installed it (not having had any problems up to that time). Now I notice that the game runs a lot slower than it did before, the CPU works harder, and it seems to "think" a lot more before doing anything. :(

Has anyone else experienced this?

Would I be better off going back to the original game without the patch?

I am only playing Abu (and not doing very well at it yet, I might add) so I don't really have enough experience to judge whether the patch is a good thing for me or not.

Any thoughts? Helpful hints? Recommendations?

Thank you very much,

Did you reboot after installing the patch and did you defrag after rebooting your computer. Patches by their very nature fragment the game files because of replacing files.

I did reboot after installing the patch, but I did not defrag. I have tons of space and generally my system evals come up very low on the "needing defrag help" scale.

But I will give that a try and see if it helps.

Thank you very much! :)

Games unlike other software can be a bit picky about fragmentation. Hope that helps.
