Every once in a while I feel the need to blow something away. ;) :D
Lately I've been doing that via Counter Strike Condition Zero. However, for some time now, I've been keeping an eye on a relatively quiet official website that until now hasn't had too much to offer in the way of information other than just a static picture on the only page. Recently I paid a visit to the site again and notice that the page now had links to in-game screenshots and a in-game video clip.
The video clip is reminiscent of the SST movie scene on Planet B where they defend the outpost against the Bug hoard. It's got the SST "Klendathu Drop" music from the soundtrack and lots of action.
I'm fairly certain I'll be picking this one up when it hits the shelves sometime in projected release date of 2005.

I'm impressed...finally an FPS that actually has graphics good enough that it just might keep me involved just to get the chance to see them all...even though I usually don't like FPS games except occasionally at LAN parties when there is nothing else people are willing to play...

I was impressed too. I've been waiting quite a while to get a peek at what this one was going to look like and I have to say it looks like the wait was worth it.
Obviously the video clip shows a climactic battle, I'm sure there is going to be a number of dark corridors you'll have to do search and destroy missions in.
I like the fact that it sounds like that may be sticking with the SST music too, which will add a lot to the feel of the game.
I don't play FPS online. I find most sessions a let down considering the number of people that enjoy ruining the whole thing for the rest of us. There's alway some joker on your team that gets his jollies fragging his teammates. I just play them solo to take a break from my other slower moving games.

Closer to the animated cartoon series in appearance than the movie. The cartoon series has more alien critters and more settings, including ice and swamp planets. Basicly each story arc in the cartoon would introduce a new planet and a new alien. Only saw a few rental DVDs myself.
Like Serious Sam, the player's main ability looks to be
"running backwards while shooting" in a target rich environment. Very nice flexible sheet rendering on the Tank Bug boss.
I'll buy it when it hits $20.

I have seen the cartoon series when it aired on tv 5 or 6 years ago. I have to disagree that the video clip bears a closer appearance to it than the movie though. The cartoon series was nothing like the movie save for the name "starship troopers" and the various bugs depicted.

SST is scheduled for July 1, 2005 release.
“Come on you apes – who wants to live forever?”
Play as an Elite Marauder
Are you ready to join the ‘Marauders’ – the elite ‘Special Forces’ of the Mobile Infantry?
Can you spearhead the assault against thousands of intelligent enemy bugs and drive the arachnid menace from the mining planet Klendathu?
Huge Cinematic Battles
“Bugs sir – millions of them!”
“How many millions trooper?”
You’ll be fighting against hundreds of enemies at once – just as in the movie you will have to overcome wave upon wave of bugs.
Weapons of Mass Destruction
The Marauders are armed with lots of explosive weaponry. These range from the standard plasma rifle and shotgun to new and exciting weapons such as intelligent grenades and the infamous nuke launcher.
A Brave New World
Not just limited by the locations seen in the movie, the game will be spread across a variety of internal and external environments on the planet Klendathu.
The combat environments include wide open battlefields, claustrophobic bug holes, secret laboratories and lonely outposts. Missions range from huge battles to small incursions behind enemy lines
New Life
As well as the Warrior, Hopper and Tanker seen in the movie the game will feature over 20 types of bug – all with their own unique characteristics.

Never been interested in miniatures. But SST is also being done as a tabletop game for those of that bent. Here's some early artwork. Seems like SST is really being revived this year.
If you haven't seen the DVD, get it. The Director's comments track where he shoots back at the critics is pretty amazing.

*Shudders* That movie gave me the creeps. It was pretty sick when the guy got his brain sucked out. Imagine that thing Jamming into you head and getting you brains sucked out. I'm feeling kinda sick thinking about it.

If that creeped you out, you'd really freak out while viewing "Starship Troopers 2: Hero of the Federation (http://www.sonypictures.com/homevideo/starshiptroopers2heroofthefederation/http://www.sonypictures.com/homevideo/starshiptroopers2heroofthefederation/)". The bugs are developing a new weapon using human hosts.

The movie was cool especially the over-the-top news and ads (like RoboCop).
Great demo video. Is this a box game or online subscription? Wonder if there'll be any humor in it?
The Swarm Engine... could be kewl :D !

This is a box game. I've been watching the game site for the past year whilie it's been in development. It must be getting close to release time, since the website only used to have a 30MB video trailer for download and now it has more things to look at.
Shouldn't be too long now.
Believe it or not, but back in the 1990s there was a Starship Troopers game put out by Microprose. I never saw it even though I was very familiar with Microprose games.

$10.00 says Jack Thompson launches a crusade after this, because kids might be inclined to kill innocent bugs... :D
It looks cool, but I could have sworn they had an ST game that came out a few years back. Wasn't done by Microprose though. Speaking of which, that is a name I have not heard in a while.

The one I saw was definitely from Microprose. I was searching for the web address to the official SST2 site and Google brought up a link to a game by Microprose which had a picture of the box.
