Hi, I cant figure out quite what the two last other tabs in the 'triggers', do and what I should use them for?
I'm working on a scenario but I'd like to know what I should use them for. I've never really done this sort of thing before, but then again I would of made some very bad ones at those sort of ages.;)

Hi Nighteyes,
Objects and Areas
I'll try to explain..Before we get into it, keep in mind that...
the two usually interact with each other
and...the Editor is fashioned after a multiplayer game where you might have Player1 send infantry to battle Player2s armored units
For CoTN though, it is single player game, so you will almost always designate things as Player1
Now...
Area first
Simply put, you can designate any single point or any part of your map and tag it with a name as an Area
Object
You can create, kill, move or specify character(s),building(s),etc with attributes and tag them with a name as an Object
Reason, why you would want to do this?
Is because then you can have an Object interact with this Area
Let me try to give an example where you might use this
In my scenario Rhakotis
I had a partial Barrier wall that needed to be completed or it would destroyed
I created an Area
I called it Area1
I selected a part of the map where this wall was going to sit on my map
I made this area just large enough to hold only 60 wall segments
I then created an Object
calling it Barrier Wall
and gave it attributes as--> wall segment(s) of (1-60) that were siitting on Area1
I could then tell when this Barrier wall was completed because of the size of my Area1 could only hold 60 wall segments
So, my statement was something like this
If Barrier Wall(s) => 60 then it is completed
This is so walls built someplace else, other than on Area1, would not be counted as part of the Barrier Wall
I hope that makes sense
Now, lets take it one step further
----------------------------------------
I had a time limit on finishing the Barrier wall --> it was 10 years <I think>
So, I had another statement
If years=>10 and Barrier Wall <60 then
Kill Barrier Wall
What this does is checks the amount of elapsed time and
if there arent enough segments..it will destroy the wall segment(s) on Area1 or
Kill all of the Barrier Wall
This only effects those wall segments within the Area1 part of the map
Any other wall segment(s) that may be else where on the map are untouched
----------------------------------------
This is only the simpliest of explanations
Objects and their attributes have greater ranges that can be applied
There are also certain rules that apply when creating these Areas and Objects
but wont go into it at this time
Other places where Area(s) and Object(s) are needed
are in Camera Scripting
and in Tasking Units....But, those are topic(s) for another discussion

Thanks Karter,
now I can work on improving my scenario, I can't work on it much now that I'm back at school, but I do my best, I even plan on sending it out here I my Additional Options section decides to let me post things.
it won't be ready for quite a while so I'm in no rush to get it working at the moment.

Hi Nighteyes,
Hey, I understand completly, I have several things going on....
I have 2 websites I am starting up...so, CoTN has taken a back-seat for a bit
But, if you really want to know more about the editor download Empires_Editor_Manual_1.2.zip at the bottom here
It is very similiar to CoTN's and while not all of the information is the same..it goes into greater depth about Objects, Area, Camera scripting etc
And here is my latest thing I am trying to put together...LOL...you might take a look at my new music player..
Karter's Jukebox @ www.itsmyLyfe.com (http://www.itsmylyfe.com)
If you click on the ones marked directory that opens that set, etc
just click on the song, all the usual things
it has a repeat button, pressing it once, repeats all songs you play, pressing it twice will repeat the same song selected.
I have hundreds of songs I need to get indexed and added to the site
and then design the actual website and add the jukebox...
It will have different skins you can apply, colors etc
and lots of other things
LOL...in a month it might be close....I am just now starting on it...
Any way I check here now and then so, if you have any more questions don't hesitate to ask :)
